    Re: Focus on Fauci

I will not miss these posts. You've dismissed scientists allied with governmental agencies while presenting us with a perspective that reeks of anti-science. It reminds me of the delusions of Trumpsters.

Here's the description of Great Mountain Publishing from their own website.

Great Mountain Publishing is a church publishing ministry (Galatians 3:26-29; Matthew 18:20), which will, without compromise, spread the gospel of Jesus Christ through all forms of media, including but not limited to paper and electronic publishing. GMP will expound on the teachings of Jesus Christ and expose the many different manifestations of the world antichrist conspiracy against God and man. The religion of GMP is exclusively Christian, wherein the guiding principles and religious doctrine are found only in the Holy Bible, Authorized (King James) Version. It is the position of GMP that the Authorized (King James) Version is God’s word in the English language, and therefore, under no circumstances shall any bible version other than the Authorized (King James) Version be used as the basis for the principles and doctrines of GMP.

Yes, I draw my information from all sides and all vantage points... I figure life is rather like a symphony, best when all voices heard..

I'd not been to that particular site before today... it was a random pick of several possible that carried the story.

I appreciate that you're not going to miss my posts... I do, most sincerely, hope that they are proved wrong..

that's the problem with link-citing as a key part of interweb discussions.
There really should be more discussion of why a link is credible before using them to back up an argument.

Different uses of a link have different criteria, of course -- I'm always glad to see what people in different bubbles are getting presented to them as fact.

    Re: Focus on Fauci

Bubbles... I'm glad you see that they can be a wonderful thing to get outside of. Am reminded of de Chardin's quote Matter that Larry gifted us with this morning - and what the following snippets can convey:

Quote Weld lovable humorous vigorously practical human life with spirit. Welcome and accept all natural human instincts, all the savoring of life, but permeate them with the vitality of the spirit. Those who savor even the highest in life - without this permeation of the spirit - will stagnate, sink backward, imprison themselves in matter.

It is absolutely essential that you realize one thing fully: the necessity of something besides intellectual recognition of truth. You must not only read and understand, you must do until you absorb into the substance of yourselves. There is, in that, the difference between the athlete and the person who has read the rules of the game; the art critic and the painter who has struggled with pigments. You must not only see that it is so: you must make it so. This is not knowledge. It is development.

.....For the moment, assume that you are living in and surrounded by a finer more powerful substance. You can call it God, ether, electric field, spirit vibration. When you are pervious, you are permeated by it and obtain from it various elements of expansion and growth. But ordinarily, in your world-absorbed consciousness, there is no chink or cranny by which its influence can enter. You are like people swimming in a sea completely encased in diving suits that admit no drop of life-giving water. Only on comparatively rare occasions, when you are off-guard, do you permit yourselves to be reached by it...even unconsciously.

What is this spiritual contact like? An analogy may be helpful.

Suppose you go for a walk. Most people proceed through life ‘busy with their own thoughts.’ The teeming inner life of your mental activities holds you, so that you are cramped within yourself and things outside are half-noticed or, perhaps, not noticed at all. Now, stop short and let things about you into your consciousness. You will be surprised to find how many actually have no existence in you. For example, birds singing - a moment ago you literally did not hear them. The line of trees on the hill - you sensed vaguely that they were there because you were staring straight at them, but the cast of them against the pale sky behind, the light on their leaves, the curious molten look of the foliage en masse, those things simply were not there. You saw the fields perhaps, but you did not sense them. The effect of the landscape - whatever it might be - was shut out, because you were occupied within the narrow confines of yourself.

Until you voluntarily threw open your spirit to the wider spirit influences, than those of yourself, they could not claim you. Now by this shift of attention, I do not mean a detailed intellectual appraising of the surroundings, a cataloging, an enumerating of features and species and lines of composition. I mean simply the expansion that is the result of the shift - from a busy mental concentration within - to a voluntary wide opening to influence from without. That, in itself, is a simple form of spiritual contact. Appreciation of beauty - in the sense of surrender to its influence rather than a critical analysis - is another example. Some may find the hidden spark in a jewel, others in a temple drum or a Buddha.

Beauty is a great and quiet teacher. In your response to beauty, what I am asking here is that you notice the difference between the outgoing expanded feel - versus - the indrawn close-huddled concentration of ordinary affairs.

There is no doubt that the pleasure and benefit would be greatly enhanced could we maintain that outreaching expansion, could we continue to see and admit within ourselves, the influences outside. But we don’t. We hold it for a minute, then something reminds us of something, and our busy brains are off like dogs on a scent. Our established habit is against us.

It is the habit of keeping open to the outside that you must acquire. Otherwise, the instant you relax vigilance, your thoughts and emotions will drag you back into their busy little cozy lair. ...The gaining of this does not mean straining or striving, it is more a matter of how often you think of it. Just live it, calmly and comfortably. S. E. White

Dian, old friend, One need not approach issues with preconceived biases [pro-science/anti-science/pro-establishment/ anti-establishment/ right/ left/ right, et cetera...]. In my humble opinion, Reality transcends party politics, and "the truth" may be arrived at by looking at all of the various positions and listening to the multitude of voices. To arrive at "truth" One must learn to think on one's own, and sift the aggregate. Like Mara, I delve into lots of sources, to find pieces of the bigger picture.

Lenin said "Be as Radical as Reality." Without being a Leninist, I may say that I find Reality itself to be plenty Radical. My only "orientation" - if one could call it that - is being on the side of the People and against the Plutocracy. The Plutes have declared War on the People. I've said as much in this forum in recent months. Covid-19 is a bio-weapon. The Great Reset is Class War. I'm sorry if you fail to see that, Dian.

Hilton: Hundreds of scientists opposed ‘Frankenstein’
research Fauci helped fund, may link to COVID-19

    Jon Dougherty

    January 25, 2021

Hundreds of scientists opposed a risky type of research ultimately banned by the Obama administration in 2014 but subsequently funded by the top U.S. immunologist, Dr. Anthony Fauci, that likely led to the creation and accidental release of the COVID-19 virus, according to a weekend report.

In a detailed investigative report on Sunday, Fox News host Steve Hilton and New York Post columnist Miranda Devine discussed how Fauci allegedly approved funding through the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases for “gain of function” research that ultimately involved a top Chinese lab in Wuhan, China, known for conducting such studies, in spite of a ban on such research in 2014 by the Obama administration.

During his lengthy report, Hilton noted that, based on documents and media reports, the Obama administration was pressured to issue the moratorium after scientists expressed concerns that a highly contagious, man-made virus manipulated as part of gain-of-function research could escape from a lab and ravage populations.

In response to those concerns, the Obama administration placed a moratorium on the research, which involves manipulating a virus’ genetic sequences in order to create a more potent strain so scientists can discover how best to combat them.

“Brilliant!” Peter Hale, the executive director of the Foundation for Vaccine Research, a group that opposes such research, noted at the time, The New York Times reported. “The government has finally seen the light. This is what we have all been waiting for and campaigning for. I shall sleep better tonight.”

But, according to Hilton, Fauci — who wrote approvingly of such research in a Washington Post op-ed published Dec. 30, 2011 — nevertheless continued on with gain-of-function research anyway, subcontracting it to a group called EcoHealth Alliance.

“It looks to us, having looked at the documents and the paper trail and the money trail that the most likely explanation — we can’t be sure — but the most likely explanation is that this virus was the result of a genetic research commissioned by Dr. Fauci in contravention of a ban on that kind of research that was put in by the Obama administration in 2014,” Hilton said as he brought in Devine.

“The irony, tragically, is that that ban by the Obama administration was forced on them by a group of about 300 scientists, eminent scientists, who knew that this gain of function research, this Frankenstein research, was so dangerous,” Devine responded.

“It’s just asking for trouble, especially because we’ve seen so many lab accidents,” she added. “When the ban happened, unfortunately, Dr. Fauci…decided to get around the ban by doing that research or directing that research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, which already had a subpar safety record as we know — even the Chinese government was worried about it.”

Devine went on to say that “every apolitical, honest virologist in the world” believes that “the most likely explanation” for COVID-19 is that it was lab-engineered and that “it escaped” by accident.

Devine added that Fauci, whom President Joe Biden has named to head his COVID-19 task force, has long been supportive of gain-of-function research, referencing his 2011 op-ed in which he claimed it was a “risk worth taking.”

“It’s striking that the two people who are pushing back the most on the lab leak theory are Anthony Fauci and Peter Daszak,” the latter of whom heads the EcoHealth Alliance, which Hilton said Fauci subcontracted to continue the gain of function research.

Daszak, said Devine, is currently in China as the only American who is part of a World Health Organization panel allegedly investigating the virus’ origins. She also said he was at the Wuhan lab in October 2019 when some reports indicate COVID-19 began to spread.

“He is not being straight with the public when he talks about” accidental release of the virus “not being a possibility,” Devine noted further.
