    Unite or Fight...?

While we are busy being concerned about dividing the Democratic party, the party, in all of its centrist wisdom has overwhelmingly voted to continue the very non-democratic Orwellian governmental practice of civilian surveillance.

152 House Democrats Join GOP to Reauthorize 'Abusive Government Surveillance Powers'

Seemingly always walking in lockstep with corporate America, the majority centrist side of the party will quite literally fight to kill the masses in efforts to save its own skin.

We see this clearly in the centrist/liberal wing of the party's relationship with the health insurance industry. No single-payer health plan for America! We are somehow above all of those pesky socialist programs that might inconvenience the few. And whatever else we do, let's be sure, in the name of party unity, to recite and spread the talking point: Medicare for All is a deal breaker....

So unless you're among those who have a warm fuzzy feeling for your health insurance company and have the resources to pay all the co-pays and deductibles, you're left with only the hope that: A) you or a loved one doesn't become infected with the Corona virus and, B) if you are, you are one of lucky ones who will suffer only the mild cold-like symptoms.

The obvious problem with this scenario is that when large segments of our population are left without diagnosis and treatment we all suffer the consequences, regardless of whether or not one is fond of their insurance company. Every time you go to the grocery store or gas station or post office or anyplace outside of your home you will be exposed to those less fortunate than you who don't have any health insurance and might very well be walking around infected.

Don't look to your favorite insurance company to help, here's what they say:

Divisiveness certainly seems to have taken on a heightened level of importance. One would think that dividing the party between the Democratic centrists and the demonic socialists is the new existential threat to survival. I wish it were that simple.

Unfortunately the most divisive threat in our current sociopolitical atmosphere is the vast income, wealth and class disparity that is spreading like a plague in this country. As it fosters anger, hatred and intolerance born out of fear, poverty, homelessness, hunger and sickness it appears that the only effective solutions being offered are coming from the evil socialist/progressive wing of the party. But by all means we must crush those devil communists.

It is telling that our political establishment deems it of greater importance to be filling the airwaves with threats of socialism and party divisiveness rather than addressing the climate crisis, which is by far the most dangerous threat to our survival.

The only possible hope we have is an aggressive plan. Many climate scientists and activists have warned of the need for a plan nothing short of the Green New Deal, as proposed by Sanders, AOC and the rest of those savage democratic socialists who will only divide our party and our country.

Divided or not, at the end of the day no one knows who will win the general election. If you consider the available facts, observation would indicate that running Biden is the same play as running Clinton, and we all know how that turned out. On the other hand there is no evidence to support the idea that Biden, like Clinton, would lose to Trump. In like, there was no evidence to support the notion, held by many, that Trump would never be president, yet here he is.

Predictions of future outcomes and possible scenarios are not all in vain. Some considerations come with sufficient observable evidence to conclude, with a high degree of certainty, what to expect. A few examples might be:

    1) Trump will continue to take us as fast as is humanly possible toward death and destruction.

    2) Biden and the centrist establishment wing of our precious party will do next to nil to fight the corporate structure and elite billionaire ruling class that has been killing us. Even without his past performance record his current stump speeches tell us that he wants to bring us back to the good old Obama days when the status quo embraced a slower more prolonged massacre of the masses.

    3) Sanders will fight tooth and nail for all of us. And while there is no guarantee what, if any of his plans would pass Congress, we do know that he will not abandon the fight. His record is long and proven as a champion of the people.

Whomever is president will have a great deal of influence and power to assist them in their efforts to implement the policies and plans they promised, if they choose to do so. The operative words are; if they choose to do so. Those beholden to corporate America, the billionaire ruling class and their own personal ambitions, have already demonstrated that their word to the people is not their bond. Party unity, the fear of Trump and the now ever present socialist scares are all various forms of oppression through misinformation, McCarthy era red-baiting and election interference. These are the oligarchy's efforts to prevent the outbreak of Democracy.

Elect-ability is a fool's errand. No one knows until it's done. In my opinion the only valid question is who do you trust to lead the charge for the future and betterment of humanity and the planet. For my money it's not the centrist status quo wing of the Democratic party.

I personally think it's time we take a deep breath and stop trying to desperately hang onto that which has been systematically destroying us and our environment. Party unity without context is meaningless and delivers us nowhere. Blue no matter who is as equally vacuous. What are we fighting for? What are we voting for? What do we stand for?

If we don't start now with some drastic measures to change the social, racial, economic, political and environmental paradigm, all of us are facing some not too distant dire conditions of survival and suffering. Your comfy little house in West County, your hard earned nest egg, your much loved insurance company and your politically correct Prius or Tesla are not going to help you.

The first thing we have to do is win the election. How best do we do that?
