Clinton aide " Protesters don't want $15 an hour"

Clinton Aide: Protesters Don’t Want $15 An Hour

A former aide to Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama cautioned the Democratic Party against “moving policy to the left” in response to the wave of public protests targeting President Donald Trump, telling MSNBC: “You are wrong to look at these crowds and think that means everyone wants $15 an hour.”

.... “Don’t assume that the answer to big crowds is moving policy to the left,” Palmieri said. “I think the answer to the big crowds is engaging as much as you can, to be as supportive as you can. And understanding ― what these people want, they are desperate.”

    My comments:
I think this is symptomatic of many of the issues facing our country today...

I have long been critical of the push for higher federal minimum wages. They are meaningless. There is simply no way to set a minimum wage that is meaningful across this country. In many area- it will be too high and hurt not only large but small businesses. In many others it will be far too low.

If anyone thinks that a minimum wage that is meaningful to those across brad swaths of our country is also fair to those in SoCo, of SF, LA, NY...they really need to get out more.

And as small as this might seem- it is a MAJOR issue. For small and medium sized business owners- even for large corporations- trying to run a business in PA, OH, WV, AL etc...a minimum wage that will work, as even a sub-par living wage in "D" urban strongholds is a non-starter.

I'd urge everyone to spend a little time on craigslist or other sites- and get a feel for what the cost of living is much of this country. Then go on google, duck, duck,go etc and find themselves some newspapers from the huge part of this country they never hear from- and see what these peoples concerns and realities are.

Trump is going to provide the liberals with an amazing opportunity. Sadly... I don't have a lot of hope they aren't going to fumble...

there are people in those places too who, though they may not be liberal/left, will react against the attacks on benefits they expect - health care, schools, personal financial security. It's got to start (and remain) local anyway. Yeah, I know, Kansas.... sometimes it takes a while.
