Should we abolish the presidency? What does the president really do? Find out here

There's a lot of information in here that I never knew, and maybe some of you didn't either. I subscribe to James Altucher's blog, and find him very interesting, funny, and knowledgeable.

Not necessarily but its an interesting point to debate.

For example, what would we replace it with? An anarchist ideal? A absolutely pure corporate government with no elections or freedom of expression whatsoever, like in the movie, "Rollerball?"

Here is an excerpt of what it says about James Altucher in Wikipedia:

James Altucher is an American hedge fund manager, entrepreneur, bestselling author, and podcaster. He has founded or cofounded more than 20 companies, including Reset Inc. and StockPickr and says he failed at 17 of them. He has published eleven books, and he is a frequent contributor to publications including The Financial Times, TheStreet.com, TechCrunch, Seeking Alpha, Thought Catalog, and The Huffington Post. USA Today named his book Choose Yourself one of the 12 Best Business Books of All Time.

It's always a good idea to research the scumbags you're quoting.

Aw, Edward, I don't subscribe to judging people as "scumbags", even when I have direct negative experiences. It's such a general derogatory word. I prefer to use words that I can actually attribute to someone from my own experience. One such member I'd call a "gas lighter", and it's been confirmed by several others.

I might think of Trump as a "scumbag", but I'd prefer to use words that more accurately describe the attitudes he proudly displays, which I don't need to detail, since most people are already aware of these.

There may be many people that you and I know from their Wacco posts that might be viewed as conscious "scumbags". Is there such a thing?

It's one thing to disagree with someone, but it seems kind of childish to resort to name calling at our age. That doesn't mean that you don't point out specific transgressions against humanity or the animal kingdom. This is the perfect place to identify the manipulative activities of those in our community, since by doing so we may prevent harm from coming to innocent victims. (I've actually done that a few times, without unnecessary name calling) Then again, their power may completely over ride our accusations and proof of wrong doing.

It's reassuring to know that you're on the job, looking out for those of us who might otherwise be duped unknowingly.

I enjoy Altucher, so maybe that makes me a "scumbag"?

No, darlin', you're definitely not a scumbag. Please forgive my vulgar use of language.

I had a hard time holding back because Mr. Al-touched seems to be proselytizing a neo-Libertarian wet dream where government does not exist and only the private sector does. So no government at all??? Who the hell runs the country then? Corporations? Small businesses? Churches and religious leaders? Small, rural collectivized farms? Etc?

Altucher is advocating one of the most lamentable and preposterous, half-baked delusions of contemporary society where everyone is a "customer" and citizenship is tossed out the window, whole hog.

    My 2 cents.
