    Are Humans Apes?

    Are human beings apes?

Are we in the same family as chimpanzees, gorillas, and orangutans?

Is this indignant (if it is true)?

Is this a mistake of science?

    Are we humans animals?

    Do humans have souls?

    What is a 'soul'?

Does having a soul mean that we are not animals?

Does such a thing as a 'soul' really exist?

    Hominidae

Where we draw the definitional lines is somewhat arbitrary, but it behooves us to emphasize the continuities more than the differences, so let's say "Yes".

Quote Are we in the same family as chimpanzees, gorillas, and orangutans?
    Yes. It's the Hominidae family.

Quote Is this indignant (if it is true)?
No, but some people are indignant about it. Some chimps, gorillas, and orangutans may be, too.

Quote Is this a mistake of science?
    Probably not.

    Quote Are we humans animals?
Ever been to a frat party? Or a war?

    Quote Do humans have souls?
Certain humans, such as James Brown and Aretha Franklin, have soul. I'm not sure the term can be pluralized.

    Quote What is a 'soul'?
As a caucasian, I don't know what soul is, but it's reportedly funky.

Quote Does having a soul mean that we are not animals?
    You're begging the question.

Quote Does such a thing as a 'soul' really exist?
Probably not. But there are plenty of assouls around.

    Re: Are Humans Apes?

    Are human beings apes?
Humans have evolved from ape form. (In this Age of Aquarius) we are now beginning to evolve into angelic (Spiritual) forms. (Intuition/telepathy will become more common).

Are we in the same family as chimpanzees, gorillas, and orangutans?
    (tomato/tamato)

Is this indignant (if it is true)?
If one is indignant then they don’t know their own Human Biology 101.

Is this a mistake of science?
No, see how the common snail has evolved over the millennia.

    Are we humans animals?
Yes! When we examine “Emotions” (as a field of study) we see the raw animalistic behaviors within us. But, in this (New Age) we will begin to evolve again into a more spiritual being, (of lightness).

    Do humans have souls?
Yes, (Depends on who defines “soul”). From my research, the soul is defined as a life, (living/dead): or memory. Soul is not an exclusive Afro-American thing. Soul consists of an old memory which affects our current experiences. (If one can still recall) vividly how their first love/crush broke their heart, then that is their heart-memory, in their soul which drives them today. Many poems are written from the soul or heart.

    What is a 'soul'?
There is the soul and there is the spirit. The soul (or deep memory) is what drives our actions. The heart, (memory) is often referred to as the soul. In juxtaposition to the soul is the spirit. Spirit is life: physical human energy, mental-emotional energy. The spirit is also defined as the collective “energies” of the entire Natural Universe, (most often defined as God), or Ancestral Spirits or Alpha Realm.

Does having a soul mean that we are not animals?
I like to say that we are 1/3 animal, (emotive); 1/3 human (intellectual thinkers) and 1/3 angelic, (spirit). There are some noted differences between the Human animal and the primate animal. Primates have 32 emotions, (See Jane Goodall) while humans have over 500 emotions, as well as other more evolved abilities.

Does such a thing as a 'soul' really exist?
(Quoting Wikipedia to answer this question):
"The eye of a needle" is scripture quoting Jesus recorded in the synoptic gospels:
I tell you the truth, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.
(In other words) the soul does exist within those who have suffered greatly. If one is rich, fat and sassy, (haughty) then one probably does not have a soul, (a deep wound or heart memory) of sustained suffering and pain.
The emotion of "empathy" (may) be foreign to those who have never suffered greatly over a long period of time.

    Re: Are Humans Apes?

I'm not sure if your post is 100% relevant to the thread subject but I would say that it is in the sense that humans are indeed members of the Ape family. That is why I provided the link to Wikipedia explaining the many scientifically established relationships between humans and our closest cousins within the hominidae branch of evolution.

Additionally, by recognizing how close chimps, orangutans, gorillas and others are to humans, we can begin to pass laws regulating the treatment of our not so distant family members. This means that we can prohibit cruel treatment of all primates, not only in the United States, but also begin to push for protective laws all over the world. This can easily be accomplished through the UN, Greenpeace, WWF, Sierra Club, and many, many different gubernamental and non-gubernamental organizations.

The website you provided offers fascinating information about not just apes in general but also all other animal species. There is a great deal of data available in the Nonhuman Rights Project website and it helps to explain that all species share many of the same rights as humans do.

    Thank you
