    Rotten Robbie car damage

Hi! I took my car to Rotten Robbie's in Sebastopol for a car wash back in January. They had just installed those new folding doors and part of it didn't open all the way--someone had obviously banged into it and there were pieces of plastic hanging down on the side, which dinged up the entire side of my car. The cashier came out and took my name and phone number on a list he had, and told me the manager would contact me, which he didn't. I called several times but got no return calls. I called the corporate headquarters and was told it was my fault for "hitting their property." Really, there was so little room for error in the turn radius. They have since removed the hanging plastic from the door and put in guard things on the driveway. When I took my car to two body shops for estimates, I was told that other cars had been in for the same thing. Ditto, my insurance company. I am thinking about taking them to Small Claims Court. I could sure use some backup. If you have had this experience or know anyone who has, who might be willing to write a letter I could use, please let me know. Thanks.

I am not litigious. I am a little outraged about this particular situation, however. We're talking almost $3000 of damage.

There is the Better Business Bureau, you could file a complaint with them which could cause enough pressure on them to settle out of court particularly if others that suffered similar damage to their cars at the same location also filed complaints with them.

    Complaint form info web page:
    https://www.bbb.org/consumer-complai...nt/get-started

Good luck with getting repairs done and reasonable compensation for the damage.

Rotten Robbie's car wash should be boycotted anyway. I was at a City Council meeting on another matter and before that issue came up, several people who have lived above the car wash since before it was installed submitted a very articulate and anguished appeal to the Council to require limited hours, noise reduction, etc. To hear their stories detailing the loss of quality of life in and around their homes due to the horrendous noise (of the dryer) and the fumes from the cars idling in line, was disturbing and very sad. I haven't used it since.

I would take all my documentation to small claims court and sue there. You shouldn't need a lawyer....Sandy

I would pressure your insurance company. It's not like a hit and run where you have to have that expensive coverage. Too bad they fixed it before you could take pictures.
