Who sends / takes boxes of clothing to places of need?

Friends used to send clothing to orphanages in the Ukraine, and others took supplies to Native American reservations in the South West, but no longer.

I'd like to donate lots of clothes, but need a current contact - anyone know who's doing that now?

    Thanks and blessings, Jude

Jude - I have friends from Mexico who live here now, and take things back to their village in Michoacan several times a year. If you are interested, I can contact them and be a go between.

Today I met a man who founded a school in Nepal, and sends clothes, etc. to kids there, so will be gathering things for that direction too. Yaaay. Jude

Re: Who sends / takes boxes of clothing to places of need? KIDS CLOTHES PLEASE!

If it makes you happy to think of your kids' outgrown clothing and shoes being worn and appreciated by kids in Nepal, please get in touch to pass them over to me.

i'm collecting clothing (just a box or two) for little ones, since the school has said "we just took in 4, 6 and 9 year olds. Practical, sturdy clothing for both summer and winter is welcome."

    Thanks, Jude

Consider helping out locally! Call the YWCA Battered Women's Shelter. Many women leave dangerous situations with only the clothes on their and their children's backs. They also need furniture etc. for when they set up a new home for themselves, and sell stuff to help fund the many helpful programs they provide.

Re: Who sends / takes boxes of clothing to places of need?

Yes, i know the value of thinking globally and acting locally. That's great too.

And many years ago, i travelled in india, nepal and other parts of the world, and learned about what it means to really have nothing, nothing. I remember the street kids in Katmandu.

I grew to revere the graciousness which would split ONE ORANGE into a dozen sections to be offered to a dozen people in a railway car or bus.

Without needing to discuss about where poverty is greatest… to me it is clear.

I wish to offer shoes and clothes and perhaps art supplies, etc. to the orphans in the Nepali school. Found some great priced used boots and shoes for kids today, and bought a box-full. Exciting.

Anyone who's got clothes, shoes, etc. PLEASE CONTACT ME SOON.

    Thanks, love, jude

Locally or globally - people in need know no zip codes. The world IS our own backyard!
