The Proper care and feeding of New Years Resolutions

    Make them in increments.

For some people one day at a time is full time work.

How much benefit to all of us could there be if all our resolutions stuck longer.

Whats within your grasp to really do about your life.

If all of us made an honored oath to ourselves this last night of the old year

"To our own selves we be true"

Doing so is the basic footing of a successful culture

When humanity is revealed as an instinct and not something you must learn

    Continuing forward

I have just had an epiphany of how ones reasoning process could be like Microsoft where you have to have all of these security patches to maintain a position.

A persons framework of thought is like an operating system.

For instance, imagining that there is an organic operating system but for it to be installed requires many features to be available that don't exist in the pace and advertising of the world as is.

such as a lack of desperation in family tensions and many more extended family members playing important parts in the installation.

So one ends up grabbing some platform to stand on to make sense of the world

As time goes by if one is operating solo the patches that are required to maintain a particular view become numerous.

As we defend our particular patches we render ourselves more and more into solitary confinement.

When I say back to the future, I'm not talking about the movies.

There is somewhere that would be good for us to be in but we can't get there from here.

As things go problems multiply faster than solutions and the security patches fall so far behind the operating system must be abandoned

NSA has full rights by the courts to destroy the aspect of privacy in your life if you are a part of this modern world.

but whats so great about this modern world to require you to participate? Are you a slave? Does the government own you?

    Back to The Future

For a real "back to the future' approach, check out Woody Guthrie's list from 1943. Lots of 'em, not for everyone, but a wonderful collection and the hand-written, illustrated entries are a treat:

    Happy New Year!
