  1. Re: Best of Political Humor - January 2021

Hey, Barry! How 'bout providing the new site just with your political humor?
  2.   View Post

A Wacco reunion picnic, when possible, is a great idea!
  3.   View Post

I, for one, am very sorry to see Wacco closing. It's gotten much more contentious as the pandemic wears on and wears on us, which, I believe, affects Barry's decision to end it. The need for a...
  4. Re: We rushed out of our house while neighbors' homes burned.

So sorry for the trauma you must be experiencing. We're too damn close to that fire, too. Pray for ocean air and rain!
  5. Re: Trump is a rapist & misogynist

Bernie Sanders was not a third-party candidate. He ran as a Democrat, taking no financial support from corporate America. We truly will never know if he'd have beaten Trump in 2016.
  6. PG&E Rolling Blackouts

On their site, PG&E is issuing a rolling blackout notice for my area, starting between 2 and 4 a.m. tomorrow morning, and going as late as 7 p.m. Wednesday. If interested, you might want to check 0n...
  7. Re: CDC tells states: be ready to distribute vaccine on Nov 1

A political date? two days before the election? Gee; I wonder....
  8. Re: Amazing photo of the year- if you love animals as much as I

Dear WACCO Community, This photo was sent to me by a warm-hearted peace activist and animal lover, whom I trust implicitly and who would never knowingly have sent a photo-shopped picture without...
  9. Amazing photo of the year- if you love animals as much as I

It was considered the best photo of this century. A lioness and her cub were crossing the savannah but the heat was excessive and the cub was in great difficulty walking. An elephant realized that...
  10. Re: 45% of Sebastopol Budget dedicated to Police Services

Very true. Lousy metaphor in this case, but hit them where it apparently would hurt the most.
  11. Re: 45% of Sebastopol Budget dedicated to Police Services

That's exactly what should have happened all along!!!
  12. Re: Best of Political Humor - June 2020

Randy Rainbow's interviews with Melania and especially, with Ivanka, Trump are priceless!
  13. Re: Bill Gates hopes to vaccinate "7 Billion Healthy people" in record time....

Video apparently removed by YouTube for violating 'community guidelines'.
  14. Re: Biden Sexually Assaults Women

Far better than his horrible opponent, of course, but seven other women (besides Reade) have complained about Joe's inappropriate touching...
  15. Re: Trumpsters Using Tara Reade Against Biden

Just saw the video. It's unfortunate, but to be expected, that this would happen - a case of the pot calling the kettle black, more mud-slinging politics (sigh). They'd have loved to have...
  16. Re: Coronavirus: "Reality" & "Conspiracy Theory"

After reading the wording of this bill (H.R.6666) I e-mailed Rep. Mike Thompson, asking him tor reject it when it comes to a vote. it does include going to our homes and it's a staggering amount of...
  17. Re: Biden Sexually Assaults Women

When I clicked 'watch video', a different one came up, one that I enjoyed. However, much as I have often enjoyed Bill Maher's humor, and dread a repeat of DT as POTUS, after listening to her...
  18. Re: Best of Political Humor - April 2020

Rossmen, do you want to leave WACCO?
  19. Re: The Ruling Class

What Hannah Arendt (who herself escaped from a Nazi-run concentration camp) was referring to (after being present at the Eichmann trials) was the way in which so much cruelty is inflicted by...
  20. Re: Coronavirus Humor

Want to say I'm so enjoying the Coronoavirus humor that Barry's been running through WaccoBB. Sharing it with family and friends all across the country who are getting a big kick out of it, too! ...
  21. Re: Trump inciting insurrection.

I believe that the American moral compass has been undermined for years - starting with the ongoing treatment of the indigenous people starting almost upon arrival, Ku Klux Klan lynchings, ...
  22. Re: Bernie takes a knee

Thoughtfully and beautifully put, Glia; thank you.
  23. Re: Bernie takes a knee

Bernie is the only candidate who did not take corporate money, and whose campaign was funded by a broad spectrum of individual donations, especially by young people.
  24. Re: Biden Sexually Assaults Women

If not this time, then GN in 2024 for sure! He's very impressive.
  25. Re: Bernie takes a knee

If Bernie hadn't done it and Biden wins, Bernie would be sidelined as an unimportant gadfly. If Bernie hadn't done it and Trump wins, Bernie would be blamed (remmeber Ralph Nader's campaign?) ...
  26. Re: Wal-Mart, Target, etc in the age of Coronavirus

Same with Community Market, Santa Rosa. A great store.
  27. Re: will the idea of "essential workers" change the national discourse?

Well-spoken. What you describe correlates to what happened when the Black (Bubonic) Plague overran Europe, during and after which the peasants, the lowly serfs had the needed survival skills, unlike...
  28. Re: Biden Sexually Assaults Women

    - as the Democratic Convention has been postponed by one month (and, possibly more) anything could still happen. Biden declared that he would choose a woman as his running mate, whereas Bernie said...
  29. Re: Biden Sexually Assaults Women

'A bit of finger play'? No, an assault.
  30. Re: Poem for the day from Larry Robinson

Beautiful, wonderful piece; a reminder of what truly matters - Thank you for sharing! (Also the one by Sherman Alexie; I love his books but didn't know that poem.
  31. Re: Buttigieg exits the race

I feel that Trump can and will chew Biden up and spit him out fr breakfast in debates, something he would not be able to do with Bernie. The Dems will err by selecting another business-as-usual...
  32. Re: Best of Political Humor - February 2020

I'd heard about the 'Day Democracy Died' piece from friends Fab! Thanks for sharing.
  33. Re: Best of Political Humor - January 2020

Actually, 'left-leaning' is more centrist, as the USA keeps moving toward the right.
  34. Re: Bullshit from Bernie

I agree with Barton and Shepard... Bernie is the LEAST bullshit of 'em all!
  35. Re: Voice Your Concern about 100+ NEW Cell Antennas in County!

Respectfully, I disagree. Most folks at the meeting on Tuesday (including myself) live in Santa Rosa and have done our homework on this issue - as have scientists and doctors whose work was...
  36. Re: Voice Your Concern about 100+ NEW Cell Antennas in County!

We stayed for the first three hours of the meeting yesterday (the first hour and a half was given solely to promoters of the cell towers - after which everyone else had three minutes each (a loud...
  37. Re: Santa Rosa downtown businesses grapple with challenges to stay afloat

That Courthouse Square nightmare took longer and cost more than projected. I went to three meetings about it (open to the public only after word had leaked out that they were planning this)....
  38. Re: Santa Rosa downtown businesses grapple with challenges to stay afloat

-also the unpopular, ugly, expensive mess made of Courthouse Square, which has made driving in downtown Santa Rosa more arduous.
  39. Re: Final Vote on Adopting the All-Electric REACH code Is Next Tuesday, November 19th

I respectfully disagree with a mandatory switch to all-electric, especially after the last round of power outages. Anyone with an all electric-household could neither bathe nor cook for several...
  40. Re: Discussions with Trump supporters

The country did not elect him, the Electoral College did. Hillary won the popular vote, though by how much is unclear since all votes were not counted.
  41. Re: Poem for the day from Larry Robinson

I share the poet's sorrow for the ducklings, though, around here, the ducks' predator is more likely a well-fed domestic cat!
  42. Re: Please Boycott Conservatives' Businesses

    - and, of course, Hillary didn't exactly lose the election, as she won the popular vote (not fully counted) by somewhere between 1.5 million and 2.5 million votes.
  43. Re: Thom Hartmann -fascism, dismantling middle class,

I've enjoyed Thom Hartmann;s show for a long time now - He's very alert, insightful and well-informed.
  44. Re: Huge industrial cannabis proposal near Graton

I prefer green to grape, but this sounds awful!
  45. Re: Monsanto & Roundup lose cancer trial in San Francisco

Thank heaven and about time!! So many other beings have been harmed by this gruesome product.
  46. Re: How to get tobacco smell out of van?

We bought a good car with the same problem, and found that putting chunks of charcoal in a couple of low flat pans gradually got rid of the smell entirely. Good Luck!
