Who or what do you see as underestimated in our society? Carol Cotton's wise answer

Who or what do you see as underestimated in our society?

All the people who do the work no one else wants to do that is absolutely necessary to our health and well being—everything from sanitation workers to field crop workers to nurses aides/CNA’s, especially in nursing homes. Treat them with respect and if you’re in a position to do so, increase their pay.

The value of do-good church people and other volunteers who help feed, console, shop for, clean house for, and keep company, the many, many people we never see in our daily rounds because they are locked in their homes, sick, dying, or just plain old, weak, tired, and lonely.

The Power of the Word, righteously spoken: Truth to Power.

The power of an organized movement.

The absolute necessity in a society for diversity, inclusiveness, quality education, compassion and friendship across the manmade boundaries.

    Whistleblowers.

The value of government regulations when properly applied, fairly mandated, and meticulously executed to protect The People from the unconscionable, bottom-line profit, single-value culture of Big Business.

The invaluable existence of a non-sensationalistic free press and ethically motivated investigative journalism.

We all underestimate, to the point where we’re almost oblivious to, how easy it is to hogtie an entire country, gut its inhabitants, and make empty shells of us all. Being free is a full-time job. We underestimate the far-reaching effects of every little thing that happens in government/politics, society, business/industry and in the home.

The world is as it is today, because of gross underestimation and devaluation. Be vigilant, informed, proactive, and protective.
