If Bernie hadn't done it and Biden wins, Bernie would be sidelined as an unimportant gadfly. If Bernie hadn't done it and Trump wins, Bernie would be blamed (remmeber Ralph Nader's campaign?) Bernie truly had no choice.

The most important reason Bernie supports Biden is because Joe is better than Trump by a landslide. But the American people will not necessarily feel the same way, come election day.

Bernie is history. He's been ranting for years and he was never supported by the RNC. The Bros didn't turn out. He's history. AOC and her squad will take his place.

The point is not to "win", but to get things accomplished. Some good things will get accomplished with Biden, but if Trump is re-elected, more bad things will happen, as he and his appointees try to undo everything useful that Obama accomplished. So it's very important for Bernie to persuade his supporters to vote for Biden.

Maybe consider for a moment that Sanders is intelligent enough to realize that his "revolution" went down in flames. (Thankfully like many other revolutions this did not involve a body count)

And maybe Sanders was smart enough to realize he (along with Warren and others) have had a big role in shaping the discussion. And still have a role to play in all that.

And that maybe he his smarter than many of his supporters. Maybe he realized that America is a complicated and divers place of ideas. And being absolute was not the path forward. Maybe he didn't want 10%+ of his supporters backing Trump again.

Maybe he realized that many of his supporters can't actually be bothered to vote. Or that huge portions of this country aren't ready for radical change- and that defeating Trump while nudging the country and it's politicians in a more progressive direction is the best that can be accomplished.

Exactly why I couldn't support Bernie. One of the longest serving congress critters- and he couldn't;t accomplish a damn thing, What was it Warren said in one of the debates? You couldn't pass anything you believed in nor stop or anything you opposed?

Bernies revolution failed on its own accord. It wasn't the "mainstream D's" or the DNC. He simply didn't have the support.

And as I've said before- that's a good thing. He would have been another Carter...a well intentioned president who couldn't accomplish a damn thing. And hand the government over to the Republicans for the foreseeable future.

I have little hoe for the future. but... *IF* there is any- we need to stop this partisan BS and realize we are a very diverse nation...and move back to the era when when we could slowly move this nation in the right direction.

Of course the DNC "rejected" Bernie... he is not a Democrat! He is an independent, always has been and probably always will be. The so-called Bernie Bros -- I'm guessing this is your pejorative term for 18 to 25 year old progressive/liberal members of the electorate -- did come out for Bernie, at least as much as they could. They got drowned out by elderly African-American Democrats in the former Confederate states who are terrified of Trump (as well they should be) and know old Joe as Obama's wingman.

It is considerably more difficult for young people to vote than for older "established" adults. For many people, the 18 to 25 years are unsettled, going away to college or joining the military, etc., making a stable address to use for voting more difficult. A considerable number have just aged out of foster care; finding a place to live and supporting themselves are far more important than registering to vote. Most political campaigns are aimed at 30 to 80 year olds who have a stable address and have voted in the last 2 elections for good reason.

As far as Bernie being "dead" or "not influential" or the rest of your venomous descriptors, you're wrong. He has a considerable and devoted following that has grown over the past 30 years. For those on the left side of the spectrum, he was America's Congressman and now he is America's Senator. Them Hartmann ran a "Brunch with Bernie" segment on his radio show for a long time. Personally I've been appreciating his POV since the late 1990s when I saw him in person in Petaluma.

IMO the metaphorical comparison of Bernie to Moses is legitimate. Note that Moses did not make it across the River Jordan into the promised land, but we are still talking about him.
