Dear Friend --
There's a lot of other news today, but please take a moment to sign this petition urging Governor Jerry Brown to sign SB 822 to restore net neutrality to California.
He has until this Sunday 9/30 to put his signature to the bill that will prohibit service providers from deciding what we see or don't see on the web and how quickly or slowly certain sites load.
Here's what our friends at the California Clean Money Campaign have to say on this subject:
The FCC killed Net Neutrality. No longer is the internet equally available to all.
The good news is that thanks to a huge state and national coalition effort, California's legislature passed SB 822, the strongest Net Neutrality bill in the country, with overwhelming bipartisan votes. It's now on Governor Brown's desk.
SB 822 will stop Internet Service Providers from blocking or throttling some websites, giving paid priority to some websites over others, or using access fees or anti-consumer zero-rating practices that constrain free choice.
But Governor Brown hasn't yet given any indication whether he'll sign SB 822, and time is running out. So please add your name to urge him to sign it now!
For MOVI and other not for profit entities net neutrality is critically important.
We know Governor is hearing from Big Money media corporations lobbying him to kill this legislation. He has to hear from his actual constituents. Signing this petition only takes a moment.
Thank you for adding your voice.
