Holding the line of what is "normal"

.Perhaps more than the Presidential election itself, the greatest struggle going on right now in American culture is to hold the line about what is considered "normal". We must resist "normalizing" the racism, sexism, xenophobia, and homophobia of Trump rhetoric. And we must also resist the normalization of the rejection of science. And resist the rejection of objective factuality itself.

This is how surreal things have become: it is a struggle whether objective reality itself even matters any more. The power of fake and twisted partisan "news" has severely distorted the minds of most Americans. The winning candidate succeeded by repeating radically absurd statements that had absolutely no connection to reality. It is difficult to comprehend how powerful this has been.
