Here is something sent to me by a friend. It offers a glimmer of hope. There are now over a million signers. Join them and then post this widely.
Friends-
There is plenty of evidence that this election WAS rigged. Not like the
Tangerine Turd claimed, but as investigated and reported on by Greg Palast,
Democracy Now!, the League of Women Voters and many others. Voter
suppression, voter roll purges, touch screen voting machines with their
anti-fraud software turned off, intimidation of minority voters, Republican
gerrymandering of voter districts: the list goes on. The techniques have
been refined since 2000 when Bush stole the election with the help of the
right-wing Supreme Court Justices. This election was stolen too.
Do you know in your gut that the election results are a potentially fatal
body blow to the republic? I do.
Do you want to do something about it? Well, here's something. It's a long
shot, but worth a few moments of your time.
Below is a link to a Change.org petition to the folks who actually cast the
Electoral College votes on Dec. 19th, the formal process to choose the
President. These Electors can vote for Hillary Clinton if they so choose.
There is no law against it, and it would actually fulfill the mandate of the
Electoral College, which the country's founders said should reflect "the
will of the people." Since Hillary won the majority of the popular vote
(even in the face of widespread rigging), and Trump is clearly unfit for
office, the petition calls for the Electors to vote for Clinton.
Sign the petition here (you'll have to cut and paste into your browser):
He's not my President, and he's not America's President either. We cannot
make the same mistake of 2000, where we sat idly by and let the corruption
of the democratic process happen. Sign the petition. This time we resist and
fight back! Start here.
Thanks, Matt
The Petition:
Letter to: Electoral College Electors
Electoral College make Hillary Clinton president on December 19th
The Founders created the Electoral College to balance two important values:
the will of the people, and the need for a President who is fit for office.
Denying Mr. Trump the Presidency accomplishes both goals while violating no
Constitutional principle.
In Federalist No. 68, Hamilton explains that the "sense of the people", must
be expressed in the outcome. But, "Men most capable of analyzing the
qualities adapted to the station and acting under circumstances favorable to
deliberation, and to a judicious combination of all the reasons and
inducements which were proper to govern their choice," should make the final
decision.
Hamilton pointed out that, "Talents for low intrigue, and the little arts of
popularity, may alone suffice to elevate a man to the first honors in a
single State; but it will require other talents, and a different kind of
merit, to establish him in the esteem and confidence of the whole Union, or
of so considerable a portion of it as would be necessary to make him a
successful candidate for the distinguished office of President of the United
States".
Casting your ballot for Hillary preserves majority rule - the "sense of the
people" - and prevents the most unqualified candidate in history from taking
office. Never in our Republic's 240 years has our President has no previous
experience in an office of public trust, be it elected or appointed,
civilian or military. Never has a President admitted to sexual assaults.
Never has a President encouraged violence at campaign events.
There is no reason electors cannot vote with their conscience, and at the
same time preserve majority rule.
Please protect our Constitution and our Republic by casting your ballot for
Hillary Clinton.
