Those who know me even a little bit know that I am an avid Tiny House cheerleader. I am a brand new empty nester and a someday social security sole-income liver (ok, awkward phrase). Within this next year I will sell my regular house to fund the building of my 175 sq.ft. little home on wheels. As I have a business in Guerneville, I will soon have to find parking in someone's backyard or driveway while I work and contribute to my community. There are so many of us in this county and we want to be legal living this great lifestyle in the second half of our lives! Several times a week I hear about cities & towns all over CA & the country passing ordinances to allow TH units to legally reside on private property. With composting toilets, there are no septic hook-up issues... just a little water & power will cover us. When I get a chance, I will bundle up all the links to this new trend and post them here (also forwarding them to T, T, M, L & N). We can do this, and provide more housing opportunities to lower-income peeps like me!
In the meantime, let's buy up all the rundown houses, apt. buildings and motels in our county to revamp them into more low income housing. I can't tell you how many parents of my preschool try to get into the Burbank housing in Guerneville so they can have a safe place to raise their kids in the River area. We can use the model of Habitat for Humanity to offer jobs-for-housing for our unemployed citizens! Whaddya say?
