Hiking the Quatrain Range -- October 1st at Many Rivers

I will be giving a poetry reading on Thursday, October 1st, 7:30 PM, at Many Rivers Books & Tea in Sebastopol. I will be reading from my collection 'Hiking the Quatrain Range'. Quatrains are four-line poems. They are found in many cultures scattered throughout the world. China, Persia/Iran, and Wales are just three examples of cultures that have a rich heritage of Quatrain poetry.

My own Quatrains have been strongly influenced by the Chinese quatrain heritage. But I also have two sections in 'Hiking' consisting of Englyn, a group of forms found in Wales. Quatrains are intimately connected to song in traditional cultures and I have tried to retain the song-like, lyrical, and rhythmic quality of these traditions in my own work.
