Demo for Rasmeah Odeh

There will be a demonstration on behalf of Rasmeah Odeh on Thursday, March 12, from 9-10 A.M., at Fourth St. and Santa Rosa Ave. If you can, please bring a sign saying, e.g., "Phone your Senators: Release Rasmeah now." Rasmeah Odeh worked with a Palestinian womyn's peace group in the Mideast and was falsely arrested as a consequence. Because she didn't mention the arrest on her immigration application the US government now wants to keep her locked up for years and then deport her. I assumed senators' calls would carry some weight with the judge, but according to Stop FBI, "Signs should say, 'Free Rasmea Odeh' or 'No prison, no deportation for Rasmea Odeh'." "We are not making phone calls to Judge Drain because he would take that as harassment and possibly punish Rasmea Odeh for it. We also are not calling Senators at this point because Rasmea's lawyers point out they have no say in the matter now." So I guess the point is for Drain to hear there are pro-Rasmeah demos all over the country.
