Lost Siamese Cat male, 13 years answers to the name Riley

I brought my seal point Siamese cat to stay on Barnett Valley Rd last Friday, October 11th. He was last seen Sunday evening October 13th inside. He bolted and hasn't been back as of Thursday October 17th. He has one elongated canine tooth on the right upper gum. that is his most distinctive feature. Please write janonthmark
    if you see him.

Re: Lost Siamese Cat male, 13 years answers to the name Riley

I've heard of this kind of thing happening when cats are brought to someone else's house for cat sitting. We don't know that this is what happened, but it's very common for a cat to escape from an unfamiliar environment.

Riley's been gone a long time. I hope the owner is checking nearby shelters every day, because that's what it takes to have a minimum chance of re-uniting with a lost pet.

This happens often when a cat is in a new environment, and the person caring for him isn't used to having to watch when doors are opened. It even happens when cat sitters are in the cat's home, although maybe not as often.

I'm not trying to make people feel guilty, but the real problem is the human beings involved. Domestic animals are like little children entrusted to our care. We need to be aware of them. and their routines. Most cats sleep many hours a day, and usually have a routine for this. My cat sleeps from about 10am-5pm each day. If I don't see her up by 6pm, I'm looking for her to make sure she's o.k.

My roommates know that it's not o.k. to leave a door open to the outside, even for a few minutes, since my cat would definitely take advantage of that. When I first moved in here, she climbed to the top of her cat condo on the back porch, and leaped over the 4ft railing that had a 3ft. extension. She was gone several hours that night. About 2am, I heard her crying to come back in. Since then I moved the cat condo to another area, and also moved anything that she might climb on to make the leap over to freedom.

We have to be smarter than these clever creatures in our care, and sometimes that's harder than it might seem.

Hope they find Riley, or he's found by someone who takes him to a shelter. Also, most importantly, I hope he's microchipped with current owner information. It might also be helpful to put some of Riley's poop and bedding or other things with his and owner's scent outside nearby, so he'll be able to find his way back, if he's so inclined.
