Rand Paul praises Assad of Syria!

US Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky is a true nutcase. Paul praises genocidal tyrant, President Bashar Al Assad of Syria because he "protected Christians." For which country is Paul a senator for? I thought it was the US but I guess I was wrong:

You can see the article and video here:
    https://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/...n_3852644.html

WASHINGTON - Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) on Sunday portrayed the current conflict in Syria as one between the government of President Bashar Al Assad, who Paul said "has protected Christians for a number of decades," and "Islamic rebels," who Paul said "have been attacking Christians" and are aligned with Al Qaeda...

Re: Rand Paul praises Assad of Syria!

It's always fun to take jabs at Rand Paul, I suppose, but how can one not agree that it's in the best interests of not only Christians but also Kurds, Shiites, and a whole host of other minorities in Syria for the secular Syrian government to prevail in the conflict, when the most effective fighters on the other side are fanatical butchers who murder everyone who does not agree with their religious views? Paul goes on to say in the cited article, "... that U.S. intervention would imperil U.S. allies in the region, including Jordan and Israel. Paul said he'd like to ask John Kerry, "'Do you think if it's more likely or less likely that we'll have less refugees in Jordan or if Israel will suffer an attack' if the U.S. decided to strike Syrian military targets."

In my opinion, the only thing to fault Paul for in the article is that he shows a bias towards protecting Christians, but the main thrust of his statements seem accurate and worthy of appreciation. As a side note, I don't understand what the poster meant by, "For which country is Paul a senator for? I thought it was the US but I guess I was wrong."
