    Global Focus on Fukushima Week

This is a Facebook event that is focusing on taking positive action each day to attempt to share resources and reduce the damage of the devastating, emerging situation at the Fukishima nuclear facility. You are welcome to join the event (it will come up in a search) or take these actions on Thursday and Friday. If you join the event, we can keep track of how many people are involved. There's lots of information there about what is going on.

"The Eyes of the Future are looking back on us and praying that we see beyond our own time."
    ~ Terry Tempest Williams

234 (and counting...) people are uniting to put our attention on Fukushima this week.

It is scary to imagine the implications of this much radiation in the ocean and how that will disperse throughout all of our water and food systems. Instead of shutting down from fear, we can stay informed, connected to each other, share resources and organize many to take action to attempt to reduce the harm. We can tap into our compassion for all beings affected by this ~ the ocean, the myriad of life forms that live in the ocean, the Japanese people at the center of this crisis, our community and our children. The power of the collective working together may be the key to keeping the earth viable for future generations.

Let's keep going with 3 simple yet powerful actions/day.

    1) Call Obama at the White House at 202-456-1111 to urge him to mobilize resources such as nuclear engineering expertise, materials for repair of the nuclear facility, military help.

    2) Call Ban-Ki Moon at the United Nations at 212-963-7111 and urge him to support international intervention now.

    3) Keep praying and/or meditating on peace or sending good thoughts. (However you do this.)

If you haven't signed the petition to the UN, here it is:

If you haven't signed the petition to US Senators to investigate the damage from Fukishima, here it is:

Re: Global Focus on Fukushima Week

This morning I talked to someone at the International Atomic Energy Council in Austria and she said that Japan has not officially asked for help. They are willing but cannot help unless Japan asks. I asked what the options would be to intervene without Japan asking for help. She said "overriding Japan's wishes and intervening would be war." How ironic is that?
