One way to know if your internet is being monitored- Wake up people if you are online your being monitored All comunications domestic and international have been monitored since the Vietnam War and possibly earlier. The sites mentioned above are just looking for tracking cookies and malware. If the US goverment decides that you are a threat to the status quo or buisness even if you just communicate with a group that is an instrument for change you will be monitored for the rest of your life. It shows whether a site could give you a virus or something...that is what I meant by a bad site. Google WOT and see what it is ...it is an add-on for Firefox and Chrome browsers

I use and like WOT - but like everything else on the internet, you have to use it with a grain of salt.

Maybe this is generational and will go away - but I find too many people who accept what they find online. This ESPECIALLY refers to those who consider themselves skeptical and capable of seeing behind-the-scenes corporate or governmental attempts at controlling opinion that others miss - yep, I mean those who find other like-minded people's sites on the web informative and helpful, and more trustworthy than "mainstream" websites.
I suspect that a lifetime of reading moderated information has tainted everyone's thinking. Until recently, there was a barrier to presenting information, opinion, or opinion masquerading as information to a wide audience. Airtime was extremely limited and rarely if ever free. Even print media was expensive, and the cheaper forms of publication looked cheap. Sure, that put extra tools in the hands of the powerful. But it also meant that published information was vetted more heavily. Never underestimate how strongly you respond to cues that are independent from the quality of the content provided. We're all still biologic creatures and our thinking is always a whole-body operation.
BACK to WOT -- I like it because when you right-click on the circle you get an explanation of why the rating is what it is. So you can make your own judgement. If it's downrated because the site's crawling with virii, don't go to it. But if it's because most commentators think it's nonsense -- well, maybe you have a higher tolerance for nonsense that supports your opinions! (Most of us seem to). So go ahead and read the site.. just don't expect that others who use WOT will be real impressed when you quote from its "facts".

I looked at WOT and the ratings that it displays, other than those that might detect malware, are based solely on user opinion. I'm sorry, but this system lends itself to possible unfair censorship and we've all discovered how internet content is manipulated and controlled lately ....

The diagnostic tests that I ran on the site ( Google and Norton ) display an immediate "safe" rating. This rating is based on diagnostic tests which look for malware, etc. It is not based on "user opinion".

therebel.org is a very professionally made dissident news and opinion site. As with any dissident site, not everyone will agree with the views expressed on it, but that's what freedom of opinion is all about isn't it. The twelve people who posted the extremely negative votes were obviously not only politically motivated but also not very bright. therebel.org does not sell anything, so what exactly does very poor vendor reliability in the context of a political website mean?

Addendum: Since posting above comment, the 12 'very poor' scores on the 'vendor reliability' category and no votes in the three other categories got replaced with two 'very poor' votes in all four categories. My own 'excellent' scores in all four categories got completely ignored. I leave it to the readers of this comment to come to their own conclusions on the credibility of this scoring system. "

Most of the links that I publish on Wacco are full of verifiable references. I have learned to look for this before sharing. Ironically, this article exposes internet censorship. It is well written and contains some useful information. It is safe.

I believe that subscribing to a system which posts ratings based on user "opinion" is opening yourself up to internet censorship, and it IS truly a battle for our minds out there .... I think that most intelligent readers have the ability to make up their own minds about content, myself included ...
