CVS/Chase is not yet a done deal!
After the approval of the CVS/Chase project by the 3-2 City Council vote, why hasn’t the developer bought the Pellini property? Why hasn’t the developer announced that the project is going ahead?
Because the approval of the CVS/Chase project demanded two conditions that the developer must accept and that they have resisted from the very beginning of this saga.* And a third critical issue is still to be resolved.**
The developer may decide not to go ahead unless these conditions are changed or weakened and the third issue is resolved in favor of the developer! So the whole project is still at stake in the upcoming election.
If a new City Council including Kathleen Shaffer and Kathy Austin are seated in December, the applicant will be right back before the new Council insisting that those two conditions, plus the third issue be decided in their favor.
CVS Champions Kathleen Shaffer and Kathy Austin would join CVS supporter Councilmember/architect Patrick Slater as a Council majority and vote to change these conditions and issues for CVS/Chase.
So it is virtually certain that CVS/Chase will be built if Kathleen Shaffer and Kathy Austin are elected.
BUT CVS/Chase may be defeated if John Eder and Robert Jacob are elected to the City Council!
Candidates John Eder and Robert Jacob have spoken out against the CVS/Chase project. They both support the Council’s conditions. They would not vote to allow a left hand turn across traffic on Sebastopol Avenue that would tie up traffic coming into and leaving Sebastopol.
The election of John Eder and Robert Jacob is our best hope to stop the CVS/Chase project and to welcome a more Sebastopol-friendly development at Pellini’s corner.
*The developers desperately want a driveway into the project from Petaluma Avenue; the Council prohibited this driveway over the proposed pedestrian plaza. And the developers do not want a pedestrian entrance at the corner of Sebastopol Avenue and Petaluma Avenue; the Council required this pedestrian entrance. Kathleen Shaffer voted against both of these Council conditions.
**The developers desperately want a left turn into the project from Sebastopol Road/Hwy 12 so traffic coming from the direction of Santa Rosa can turn into the project. The City and Caltrans can prohibit this left turn that would significantly tie up traffic coming into and leaving Sebastopol.
People keep asking what can be done to defeat CVS/Chase.
Make no mistake.
Vote against gridlock.
Vote against a takeover of our town core.
Votes for Shaffer and Austin
are votes for 2000 more cars on Bodega Ave/Hwy 12.
If you are not eligible to vote, you can still support
candidates who will act for the good of our town.
Vote for
John Eder and Robert Jacob
Both have spoken against the CVS/Chase/Armstrong takeover.
