    Take My Cat...Please!

    Dear fellow WaCCOites,

Anyone out there have room in their home & heart for an adorable 1 1/2 year old Tabby? His name is Otto (there's a story...); he's indoor/outdoor; affectionate and independent. Unfortunately, we've been unable to solve the flea problem, and the fleas seem to have a "thing" for my girl-friend, who is very sensitive to them. He is neutered and has had his shots; comes with outdoor "cat-house," carrier, etc. Please write back, with phone #, if interested....

    Cheers,
    Don

We solved the flea issue with our cats (my husband is allergic to flea bites) by using Advantage or Frontline. Easy to use!
Rehoming adult cats this time of year is difficult because it is kitten season. The shelters are overwhelmed and a lot of cats don't make it :(
I suggest trying the above meds. Good luck.

What have you tried, to solve the flea problem? It's really not impossible...there are many ways if you really want to find a solution. Have you seen the recent posts on Fleas?

Do not use poison flea remedies for one thing. There are some powerful natural remedies you can find at the feed store in Sebastopol, or Western Farms in Santa Rosa. Another thing keep him indoors, fleas do most of their living out doors,on grass etc.,spread by other critters as well. Clean everything, carpets, furniture with non-poison orange oil based cleaners.Smells great as well !Also get a cat comb, and groom him regularly to remove all the flea eggs. You don't just get rid of him and pass the problem onto others.,

I hope you'll try some of these flea suggestions before getting rid of your sweet kitty. Frontline and Advantage work great for me. You need to use it regularly to keep them under control.

Fleas are also a big problem for me. When a cat I had once got fleas, I did the following. I tried the natural which didn't work and irritated my cat's skin. So I vacuumed every place where he walked or slept....beds, sofas, floors, etc. etc. Attempted to give him a bath (don't recommend that as it's very hard for a cat to get wet) as well as applied the generic stuff. The vacuuming is crucial. Within a few days, the flea population disappeared permanently.

Yes, I concur. Frontline will do the trick! Great stuff. Don't let Otto go that easily. He's worth the investment. Costco has the best price on it. If you don't have a membership, let me know and I'll be glad to let you get it on my membership.
