    Twas the day after Christmas

    here's a poem I wrote yesterday (12/26)

twas the day after Christmas and all through the store

some people were saying "I need to buy more"
they feared they'd miss out on the best deals of all
so early they got up and gone to the mall

I'm sorry to say it's the 'merican way:
there wasn't enough in old santy claws sleigh
to fill up that void we buy things we don't need
it's really appalling, to witness this greed.

I know that we used to behave in this way
Only on one late November Friday
We forget to be thankful for all that we've got
So here's my idea let's give it a shot --

Maybe next weekend to start the new year
we can relish our good health, the friends we hold dear
Be grateful for everything good in our lives:
our sisters, our brothers, our husbands and wives.
