Democratize the US: Publicly fund candidate campaigns.

Both in Santa Rosa and in Sebastopol, people often ask me, "What does the Occupy movement want?"
The correct answer is, "To take control of the government out of the hands of the big corporations." Here
(possibly combined with a Constitutional amendment to revoke corporate personhood) is what i think is
the most efficient way to do that:
    Dear Legislator:
I’m writing to ask you to author, co-sponsor and work to enact a bill to publicly fund candidate campaigns.
The bill ought to divide funds equally among all candidates who present X number or more of currently
registered voters’ signatures on their filing petitions. Radio and television stations can be required to
provide Y amount of free air time as part of their public service obligation. The bill ought also to ban
any further publicity. Enacting this law will free legislators from indebtedness to private interests. Legislators
will gain the time they need and want to research the issues so they can vote intelligently on them.
This is what legislators are paid to do and, I believe, what the overwhelming majority really want to do.

    Sincerely,
    Your Constituent
