    Australian Sheppards not for sale

I cannot belive the stupidity which led me to believe that posting farming animals for sale under the pets and other critters catagory would be appropriate. Apparently I cannot remove my original post, nor can I stop receiving insulting personal emails, so I am attempting to edit the post here.

Basically I agree with you. You also said you did not mean to lecture me, but you did it anyway. Every dog I have shopped for I have shopped at a shelter including my dame.
However I also have a healthy respect for the breed and this is a once in a lifetime experience for me. My mother, who lives on the east side of me and my nephews, who live on the west side of me were all involved including my granddaughter. You can be sure that prospective masters will be matched well. Thank you for taking this wonderful experience and turning it into what you did. Thank you for making a waccobb add being an open forum unwanted criticism. I don't think there is a person in the world that would not agree with you on principal, except fighting dog breeders, but you cannot stop some breeding until the shelters are empty but with good judgement, you can slow it down until the shelters are gone.

I was under the impression I could say what I want on this site. I said it. Let go now. Move on.
This is not so. You may not say anything you want here. "Free speech" does not apply here.

The cardinal rule here is "respect".

As I have posted before, you may not harass people offering pets for sale as you have done. You are welcome to start a discussion about the practice of "breeding" and whether the pure-bred lines of pets should be preserved or abandoned, or comment on any other relevant discussion or article, but not a simple for sale post where the poster is not inviting feedback.

    An apology is in order.

Barry, I cannot apologize for bringing up the subject. I hadn't read the rules and for that I am at fault. I've left the category before because of the number of ads for animals and because I saw friends who commented criticized harshly. Now I see I can post without drawing myself and others into an endless chain of recriminatory postings - perhaps a reminder from time to time that there are shelter animals needing homes. Don't know what else to say. You've got the last word here and if you want to ban me, as you've done to others, I can handle that.

As a suggestion, why cannot those who wish to sell animals list them for sale in a for sale category?
I do not intend to ban you. Rather I invite you to post "a reminder from time to time that there are shelter animals needing homes."

Pets for sale are welcome in For Sale as well. It's the posters choice to pick the category. Both make sense and might attract different viewers, however to cut down on redundancy they can only be posted in one place.

    HI Barry

Thank you for a wonderful site!

I found Tacitus reply to be well worded, moderate and informational. Unfortunately every animal sold does potentially take away a home from an animal being adopted from a shelter. Many folks do not understand this.

Any animal that is sold is usually not spayed or neutered and so can perpetuate the cycle of over population.....
(All dogs and cats are fixed before adoption from a shelter)

It would be great if Wacco would support adoption only and not the selling of animals.

Thanks again for doing what you do :)

    Barry & Genihouston,
It is more than apparent that selling Australian Sheppard pups for $500 should be listed in the FOR SALE category.
There is a current posting of hens for sale at $10 each in the FOR SALE category.
In viewing the past posts under the "PETS & OTHER CRITTERS" category, there is not a single for profit listing.
Please, let's respect the Wacco categories and post appropriately.

    Amalia
