Thanks for posting this Barry, Of the 70 CA state parks that are planned to close in 2011, most of these (58) are within a couple hours from Sonoma County, from Eureka to San Jose. These are places we go for vacations, take our kids, pets, and our friends - to enjoy nature. If you'd like to help keep these parks open, please take a few minutes to check out this website.

Hey everybody, how about we each write a letter directly to Governor Jerry, telling him how important it is not to loose these precious places:

It just takes a couple of minutes...it can make a big difference if umpteen letters get there, so spread the word, and the link.

    ON "CLOSING" PARKS;

impossible, animals do not speak English, they will still attend , next the govt. will want to sell them to the highest bidder for development..((how about giving them ALL back the the Native Americans((OOPS SORRY ,we couldn't AFFORD them after all)),,my aren't we arrogant.. I WON this, I OWN it , It's MINE,you can't HAVE it , You Must do this and THAT with this..oooh such power and dignity. uh ooops outa munney... :( gave it all to the warlords jeez... ):

trees and plants and water also do not speak English.

Humans will not be detained from nature and will traverse these areas with or with out permission

as they feel their inherent right, especially native humans. I can't promise not to do it myself.

It seems obvious to me that all "so called closed parks"should immediately (or as soon as possible) be declared Environmental
    Outdoor Art and Education camps
    ..

There is no adequate police or ranger force large enough to maintain security in these areas,(even with the parks open) thus guaranteeing their degradation ,
something we cannot afford as stewards of this stolen nation.

A fleet of Semi Truck sized infrastructure will be required, commercial Kitchens, tent cities, portable gray water systems, and Composting Porta potties(Sierra club already has models for these, regular porta potties are GROSS and GROSS polutors almost as bad as Nuclear power. ) ALL our CHILDREN in ALL our schools are being fed a line of CRAP thinking that somehow computers that need replacing every 6 years, and little things in your hand that GLOW and make music and have APS are somehow something to do with LIFE on this planet ,and somehow, someone like Han Solo will come along and save the planet at the last second, and will not get hurt by the super cell storms in the process..

This is a downward spiral into chaos led by hungry enormous money engines that have forgotten why they are even programed this way.

Eco -Ed Parks and theme-parks that focus on creativity and our natural localized self sustainability and the amazing FUN
of relating with the natural world are our best hope for re-integrating our culture to the responsibility we have to lead the planet, and our children back to compassion for all nature, human and other. I see this as an AWESOME opportunity. there are already many naturalist teachers ,
and Nature tuned artists ready willing and able to fill this need. and actually, wealthy people to fund it because, like falling off a log, its easier than balancing on top.

    see https://aeoe.org/

Check out the Environmental education center at Westminster Woods on Bohemian Highway near Occidental.
It had been going for 30 some years or longer.
    https://www.westminsterwoods.org/ee-this-week.php

these will also make good refugee emergency shelters which we may need a bunch of if the north Atlantic current shifts and the water in New York ,for instance ,comes up 30 ft. Sometimes it blows my mind that folks are not taking Global Climate Change seriously.
We do not LIVE where there are 100 times more tornadoes than ever before or a tsunami every year
(could it be? water weight to the equator changes the tectonic balance? ) it is so obvious that no one want's to see it. Like nine eleven we live in a world of ostriches."oh well certainly if there was any question it would be in the news" HAH! there's the rub folks the news got bought while you were sleeping.

So , I think it may be time to turn off the T V , and get to the confusor, and contact everyone you can , and see to it that the kids get this HELP they need cause they Can't do it themselves and they will regret the heck out of trying to do whats LEFT of it 20 years from now.
I'm actually GLAD they ripped the Arts out of schools(accept for computer art ) because
Doing REAL art is SO much FUN it will easily lead the Children OUT of MOLDY institutions with drudgery into NATURE where we all come from and belong. Every soul knows this on a cellular level, give me any 4 year old kid going "eew bugs" camping for a week and you will see a convert. Hand Made tool in hand, working the earth.

The Pie eyed piper frog of Naturalist Arts.

I'm only one teacher....................Let's DO this.
    Nico

ps there is no AP for this (yet)

I'll do that, and I'll pose the question why the prison guards union is such a favorite of governors and the public gets the shaft with park closures. What's up with that?
