"Queen of the Sun: What are the Bees Telling Us?" new film recommendation

Though I have not yet seen it myself, I want to draw your attention
to the new film about bees continuing at theatres in Marin County,
hopefully soon to come to Sonoma County. I recently saw the documentary
"Vanishing Bees," and learned a lot. I have seen the other award-
winning movie mentioned below, "The Real Dirt on Farmer John." It is
an inspirational and humorous look at a farmer, many of whom tend to
be quirky, as well as independent. There are many new good
documentaries on agriculture, including "Dirt! The Movie," which will
be shown at SSU May 2, Mon., 7 p.m. at Darwin 102 by JUMP.

This bee movie is the kind of film that would be good to have and show at SSU, in my opinion. The dying of bee colonies is an important threat to our food sources, as we experience the decline of industrial societies and consider how to respond in ethical ways. I have not yet lost any hives on my farm, where I have an able bee-keeper, partly since I am in the uplands of the Cunningham Marsh and away from many pesticides. I think we should consider getting some hives at SSU, though the over-use and unmarked use of chemicals on campus might pose a problem.
