To Snip or not to Snip that is the question?

I have always preferred snipped over not-snipped. It's prettier.

What would you say if men used exactly those words about women?

Interestingly, after extensive research (and loads of fun), I have only encountered un-snipped about 3 times. And have been with far more non-Jewish men than Jewish men. So go figure....

The figure is that 97% of circumcision in the US is not Jewish.

I circumsized my son with an official briss in my house. His distress lasted about 60 seconds.

They go into shock.

When he was about 10, he complained that he thought too much was taken off because he was smaller than a friend.

Maybe he was right. It happens.

Other than that, I haven't heard any complaints. (not that I would)

Exactly. There are many more complaints than parents or doctors ever hear about, and some botches that even their owners, not having anything to compare them with, never sheet home to their true cause.

Did your son "fall asleep," or did he go into shock and leave his body? Was he anesthetized or heavily sedated? If there were no cause for concern, why would there be at least two anti-circumcision organizations that were formed by medical professionals who had first-hand experience with the procedure? Why would knowledgeable people have written books and articles advising against circumcision? No on goes to that much effort if there's no cause for concern.

My son fell asleep during the procedure. It is not as big a deal as I was stressing that it would be. I think concern about circumcision and PTSD is yet another unnecessary fear.

You seem so cavalier about a subject you know nothing about. Watch
and learn. Circumcision removes the foreskin, with its 20,000 -
70,000 specialized, erogenous nerve endings, replacing the penile

you know that 70% of all American women fake their orgasms due to pain
and dryness caused by the less gliding circumcised penis? Did you
know that circumcised men have to thrust harder and more violent in
order to achieve orgasm? Did you know that sex is meant to be gentle
and not violent?

Circumcisers, in fact, cut away a part of the body's natural immune
system. The so called Langerhans cells, which are targeted by the
circumcisers as the entrance point for viruses(including hiv) are
present everywhere in the skin and especially in mucous skins of the
foreskin and in opposition to what the evil circumcising cabal is
claiming, they create enzymes that dissolve the shells of viruses and
bacteria and therefore kill them.

It is my opinion that the infection issue is not one with the use of proper hygiene. It is surprising to me how many mothers of infant son have no idea about how to cleanse and retract and cleanse underneath and around, especially the retracted part to prevent phimosis or foreskin sorta stuck, needing lubing and stretching to function properly again. Why are not mothers of sons taught this somewhere alng the lne. Why don't dads know and inform the situation? This situation is entirly preventable and oh so common. I had a funny thought about making myself a foreskin educator, an expert in newborn /infant penile care, sign myself up at the hospitals, each on a different day of the week, for a class for expectant or inhouse instruction for the just delivered.....lolol......what a statement about our society, and could a jewish nurse do such a thing...lolol Mindy

What a great idea to have training available! You should do that. It would be like the "lactation coaches" that new moms need to help them figure out how to breastfeed, another thing that seems like it should be instinctive but apparently is not.

Moms and dads don't know about how to care for these things because so many have been circumcised for so long that we've lost those skills. What is really frightening is that a lot of medical professionals, including pediatricians and urologists, do not know how to deal with an intact foreskin and get snip-happy should any sort of problem (ahem) arise. There's also some speculation that they may actually be threatened by the idea/sight of an intact penis and are subconsciously looking for a reason to snip. Sounds like a good reason to find another medical provider!

Well anyone who aims to be an educator should start by educating themselves. The education should be mainly education in just leaving it alone. Until it retracts by itself, the baby's foreskin should not be retracted, and that may not be for years, sometimes not until puberty. The best person to decide when that is, is the owner. Just wash the outside, with water and the mildest soap, if any. A boy doesn't need much instruction to handle it in the bath or shower.

Part of the mad campaign to circumcise US babies involves demonizing the foreskin, terrifying parents that they're not keeping it clean enough. Forcible premature retraction is one of the main causes of infections, which in turn are used as excuses to circumcise, generating yet another anecdote about a boy who "had to be circumised" (so do it at birth). In countries and cultures where circumcision is not the norm, this is just not an issue, any more than keeping a little girl's genitals clean is.

my husband and I chose to leave our baby boy just the way he came. We thought it seemed obvious to leave his body alone. He is now an 8 year old boy. He's grubby, dirty, sweaty. He has stinky feet and plays in the dirt at every chance he gets. He has to be reminded to actually wash himself in the shower or the bath. We camp all Summer long with few showers. He loves to pee in the garden and I assure you he doesn't wash his hands before or after.
I know, I'm painting myself to be a terrible Mother but I have a point. My point is that he's a boy, a regular boy, with a standard issue penis. He doesn't do anything special in order to maintain it. It gets dirty, it gets clean, whatever. He hasn't had any sort of infection. In fact, it seems a lot easier to keep tidy than my own standard issue girl parts.

I wouldn't dock my dogs tail or pierce my baby girls ears either. I just don't get it.

I second the experience. 42 years with standard issue unmodified parts has left me with nary a "health issue". My parent's decision was informed, my father is an MD and my mother an RN. Whatever your reasons for performing elective cosmetic surgery on your newborns, don't bullshit yourself into thinking it's for medical reasons.

What a blessed boy who is allowed to be a boy, doing boy things out in the natural environment -- complete with standard issue equipment.
