    Band Seeking Experienced, Focussed and Versatile Drummer

    Location:  Sonoma County
    Versatile Drummer Wanted

    Sonoma County Drummer with at least 10 years combined professional and semi-professional gigging experience wanted for serious fun with established band.

    Six-piece band with strong, mature female front (vocalist/keyboardist) seeks super-versatile, assertive (but not crazyloud) drummer. We are a mellow (no drama), well-adjusted, friendly, seasoned band-family with gigs on the calendar. Full band is: Keys, Bass, Drums, Guitar, Latin percussion, Sax. In addition to all the qualities you'd look for if this were YOUR band you're staffing (responsible, reliable transportation, team player etc) this position requires a willingness to learn existing drum parts for some original tunes, and add also have creative input. Depending upon the gig, we perform 1/2 to 2/3 original (Blues, Rock and Jazzy Pop genres), and 1/2 to 1/3 cover material, Classic Rock (Santana, Hendrix/Joplin/ZZTop, etc). Our needs:

    * MUST have a great "musical memory." (Sorry for need to clarify, but if you tend to forget things easily or need a lot of reminders after material is learned, this listing probably won't be right for you.)
    * Some Jazz/Funk background/influence, since original material has lots of syncopation
    * Able to rock-out OR hold down a solid shuffle groove - whatever the song needs! (Must be able to hold back tempo to minimize enthusiastic acceleration!)
    * Must be mature player not relying solely on income from music. (Please, this can't be about how much $ you'll get.)
    * Must be ok with occasional "freebies" for non-profits or showcases etc (I'll usually kick in gas money).
    * Good gear
    * Sober and able to honor drug-free zone at gigs/rehearsals
    * Excellent communication skills. (Answer emails promptly, etc.)
    * Able to commit to weekly rehearsals (we skip them once in a while). Complexity of some material requires review.
    * Rehearsal space a big plus.
    * Sense of humor a big plus! ;)

    Serious inquiries will be directed to band website for a look at calendar/gig history and to hear samples of original material. List of cover tunes will be provided.

    With all due respect, if this sounds like YOU, please re-read the listing as objectively as possible, since we are looking for someone very special. Hopefully that is YOU! If so, let's talk, meet to jam and hopefully start havin' fun!
