Cittaslow Sebastopol recruiting new Steering Committee Members
Did you know that Sebastopol is Cittaslow? Thanks to the efforts of Councilmember Sarah Gurney and others, Sebastopol received the highly prized designation more than a year ago. The ad hoc Cittaslow Sebastopol steering committee has been meeting for a year to create a structure, plan, and activities to fulfill the Cittaslow mission:
- support local products and culture
- provide welcoming hospitality
- protect our environment with sustainable practices
- develop human-friendly infrastructure
- use technology in appropriate ways
- create a vibrant, connected and resilient community
Cittaslow Sebastopol is now looking for a few enthusiastic new steering committee members to join our efforts to keep Sebastopol small, friendly, artistic and local.
Cittaslow Sebastopol brings together individuals, businesses, non-profits and government agencies to help Sebastopol retain its unique local flavor.
The Cittaslow (pronounced: chee-TAH-slow) "Slow City" movement began in Italy, as an offshoot of Slow Foods, and has become an international network of over 160 small towns that honor the 6 basic priorities listed above. The City of Sebastopol is one of only three Cittaslow cities in the USA and received the highest score of any U.S. applicant to date.
Anyone interested in joining Cittaslow Sebastopol at the leadership level (Steering Committee) is encouraged to apply online at www.CittaslowSebastopol.org/scapplication Deadline: Monday 3/25, 5:00 p.m.
