Help weave the fabric of Sebastopol's future

Our April 5th Celebrate Sebastopol! event was a huge success.
Check out the photos!

It's clear that Cittaslow values* and the Cittaslow coalition model speak to many people in our town. Leaders from local businesses, non-profits and local government came out to show their support and learn more about this innovative approach to community development.

What a positive way to promote local business and preserve our unique, small town flavor!

Now is your chance to get in on the ground floor and shape the way things evolve.
APPLY NOW TO BECOME A MEMBER OF THE STEERING COMMITTEE.
DEADLINE APRIL 19TH, 5:00 P.M.

As a public-private partnership, Cittaslow Sebastopol will specifically be looking to develop projects that any one organization could not do alone. Our coalition model serves as an umbrella so that disparate groups can collaborate easily to create a vibrant and thriving small town Sebastopol.

Imagine, for instance:
  • Slow Travel packages where we use the international recognition of Cittaslow to draw attention to discounted lodging/eating/event packages that would appeal to tourists around the world who want to travel to artistic, green communities with good food, gorgeous scenery and an hospitable atmosphere.
  • Boosting your search engine optimization and increasing your exposure on Facebook.Check out our Facebook page and the ways we highlight businesses, organizations and events that fit within the Cittaslow priorities. Other Internet projects could include creating a Cittaslow Sebastopol website where your company or organization could have a page to profile your events, products and services according to the Cittaslow priorities they reflect.
  • A Cittaslow Expo event where businesses and non-profits that embrace and reflect Cittaslow values can exhibit and share their expertise, products and services with the community at large.
  • Writing grant proposals for collaborative projects. It is our goal to support existing organizations, not to compete with them for funding. Consistent with the ethic of only doing what is more than any one organization could do alone, Cittaslow Sebastopol could provide the collaborative glue required by many funders to meet eligibility requirements for multi-sector initiatives.
The possibilities are without limits. But we can only do them a few at a time.

The projects we take on will be directly impacted by who joins us at the leadership level.
Be sure your voice is heard!

We are looking for representatives from the 6 Cittaslow priority areas who are ready to make a positive difference in Sebastopol. They will facilitate work groups that will brainstorm and implement collaborative projects. We are also looking for individuals willing to help with the process of becoming a 501c3.
