I'm working on a fun project with a few neighbors. Check it out:
The Petaluma Sebastopol Trail is an 11-mile, paved, multi-use trail that will link the cities ofSebastopol and Petaluma. The trail will offer a safe, dedicated route for transportation and recreationby people who walk, bike, use wheelchairs, ride horses, and use other non-motorized modes. It couldreduce traffic and greenhouse gas emissions, improve public health, and create safe routes to schools.
The trail is a community-based effort, and will be the result of years of collaboration by citizens, community organizations, and local government. Now you can help make it a reality.
The Petaluma Sebastopol Trail is a project of Sonoma County Regional Parks, adopted by the Board ofSupervisors into the County’s General Plan. To read more about the trail, visit https://www.sonoma-county.org/parks/pp_proposed_trail.htm
In April, Regional Parks will apply for a $190,000 grant to pay for a feasibility study required to move thetrail to the next phase. This grant, through CalTrans, requires a $19,000 local match.
You can help create the Petaluma Sebastopol Trail...
Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition, Sebastopol TrailMakers, BikeWalk Sebastopol, and the PetalumaWheelmen are working together to raise that $19K in donations from local individuals and businessowners who understand the trail’s value as an investment in our future.
Will you help build this trail by making a tax-deductible contribution? As a non-profit 501(c)(3)organization (Taxi ID #: 68-0467440), Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition is receiving and acknowledgingdonations for this matching fund. UPDATE from SCBC:
Thanks to the generosity of people who love the idea, we have raised $13K of our $19K matching fund for the Petaluma Sebastopol Trail.
That means with just 8 days left (our campaign ends on March 15th), there's $6,000 to go.
The trail, a priority project of County of Sonoma Regional Parks, will offer a safe, enjoyable bicycle/pedestrian connection between Petaluma and Sebastopol. It will create safe routes to school, improve access to biking and walking by people of all ages and experience levels, and leave a legacy for generations to come.
