We ARE investing in our children's future!! But we are not demanding that our money be accounted for.
I think this proposed rally is the completely wrong tactic to solving the problem. As long as we are all still paying taxes, to 'rally' to further deplete our own resources to solve the problem is playing into exactly the further self-weakening and giving away our power scenario we are being manipulated into thinking is the only solution.
It would be much more effective to use our time, effort and resources to rally to address the source/cause of the problem, not the symptoms. Isn't that ultimately always the only true cure?
WE WOULD ULTIMATELY BE MUCH BETTER OFF TO RALLY TO DEMAND THE GOVERNMENT BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR IT'S USE OF OUR TAX MONEY. And what would be a better core cause of the occupy movement? It's daring and revolutionary, but I think the occupy movement should say pick one - we'll continue to pay taxes and you be accountable, or we'll use the money ourselves for our own needs.
There's plenty of money being paid for excellent education funding.... and infrastructure, medical coverage, public services, parks...etc. But our tax money is being primarily wasted to invade other countries, establish bases in other countries and kill millions of peaceful people through incessant, undeclared wars and corporate agendas for reasons having nothing to do with American security or average American needs or interests.
Our tax money is being primarily wasted to pay corporations massive amounts for supplies for 800 bases around the world and 300 underground, and salaries, massive buildings, training, vehicles, ships, planes, hardware, research, weapons, medical care, uniforms, food, pensions and god knows what else.... all with a blank check mentality about the costs.
I say time's up. Let's rally in a way that is sorely needed, long overdue and will actually be most effective in the long run.
