Stories can connect us to ourselves and each other, provide nurturing and encouragement, ease the pain of loneliness and depression, strengthen the immune system, speed healing, open avenues of communication and wisdom in relationships, pass on ancestral history, as well as entertain. I have created an enjoyable ritual of reading something fun and/or inspiring to my husband after dinner. We look forward to story time, which provides spiritual inspiration and sweetens our marriage with playfulness as we unwind from work. I encourage you to take time each day to either read out loud as a family or tell stories to each other. It can be as short as five minutes for something juicy and to the point or an hour or more of creative sharing.
