I'd just like to take time to make the conscious community aware
of a beautiful 85 year-old lady, Adra (Bebe) Mcpherson in Sebastopol
who recently broke her hip and is back at home now recovering.
Ordinarily I would not draw attention to someone like Adra; however,
over the last several years I have become aware myself of what a
wonderful Sebastopolitan treasure Adra is. Adra, who was one of
the first stewardesses on a commercial airline actually survived
a plane crash that left her permanently disabled. (The airline
never compensated Adra.) Adra is herself the granddaughter of one
Susan Borleaux Bettelyoun, a Brule Lakota woman (1857-1945)
raised in Fort Laramie, who married a fur trader. Bettelyoun
published a book about her life called With My Own Eyes (available
at Sonoma State) in which she describes her own experience of
the fairly drastic changes she experienced in the pole-shifting conditions
of the Lakota people.
Anyway, Adra could use some of your love and
support now, so if you'd like to take time to drop her a Get Well
card, please by all means do so. Adra resides at 7303 Wilton
Ave, Sebastopol Ca 95472 / 829-7271.
