SGN Grant Announcement- Cooking from the Garden Grant

The School Garden Network is offering a $2,000 Cooking from the Garden
Grant for the 2010-2011 school year. Only schools in Sonoma County
with existing garden programs may apply. The goal of the grant is to
encourage nutrition education and healthy cooking with children, using
seasonal food grown in the school garden and/or by local farms.

Objectives:
-To promote awareness and increase consumption among students of the
variety and benefits of fruits and vegetables
-To increase student knowledge of how to prepare healthy snacks and
meals using produce and other whole foods
-To cook with students, using food from the garden and/or a local farm
-To promote awareness of local agriculture and local food systems
