Dear Community, This will be the deciding vote by the Board of Superivisors and we need as many people as possible at the hearing or if you can't come please send an email to your supervisor.
This isn't just about Petaluma its about the entrance to our county and the right of city governments to be heard.
The entire City Council of Petaluma opposes this plan and Sebastopol, Santa Rosa, Cloverdale, Healdsburg and Sonoma City Councils have added their support in stopping this polluting and completely unnecessary cement plant.
The Board needs to listen to local government.
Never before has there been an attempt to override such a strong mandate by the people!
For details see below and check out the website for more info.
ACT LOCALLY, community is our saving grace! In Solidarity! Magick

There are letters that people can send on the website to Efren Carrillo of the 5th District or they can be easily modified for your district.

PUBLIC HEARING AND VOTE ON DEC. 8TH
HELP STOP THE PROPOSED DUTRA ASPHALT PLANT IN PETALUMA

·A 300 ton per hour asphalt plant is proposed to be built by Dutra Group at Haystack Landing, adjacent to Shollenberger Park and amidst our most popular park, bird sanctuary, homes, schools and businesses.

·The operation of this asphalt plant, including over 50,000 truck trips per year, will release tons of hazardous pollutants into the air including NOx, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, formaldehyde, hexane, toluene, phenol, ultra-fine particulate matter and many more. Exposure to these air toxins have been linked to cancer, leukemia, central nervous system damage, liver damage, asthma, respiratory problems, heart attack and other health problems

·The asphalt plant is within 1-mile of four schools, 2-miles of 26 schools and 3-miles of 46 schools. Thousands of school children also visit the park every year on school field trips to learn about ecology, conservation and environmental stewardship.

·According to Dutra’s own Environmental Impact Report (EIR) the project would result in “significant and unavoidable impacts to the air quality, noise and scenery” in Petaluma. The EIR also states that the region’s asphalt needs can be met at the already existing regional asphalt manufacturing facilities.
