Hi animal lovers,

Sorry about this, but this is an URGENT alert regarding 11 cats at SF Animal Care & Control who have been declined by ACC and the SF/SPCA, and now have been offered to GiveMeShelter, the main rescue group in SF.

Unfortunately, GMS has no more foster homes available, meaning that the cats will be killed or "euthanized" on Friday (October 16) unless
temporary foster homes are found for them.

There are 11 cats, ranging from 9 months to 5 years, one declawed. As I
think most of us know by now, the fact that the cats have been
"declined" does NOT mean that they are unadoptable. It may mean that a
cat is shy, or that she has a slight cold, or something else, relatively
minor, which should NOT be a reason for the cat to die, or it was a
subjective "roll of the dice" and the person evaluating the cat gave it
a thumbs down. Johanna of GiveMeShelter has met and evaluated each of
these cats, and knows that all of them ARE adoptable!! In fact, in
2008, GMS rescued 200 cats and placed 155 into permanent homes, and the vast majority of those cats had been "declined" by ACC and SF SPCA, yet GMS saved all of them and permanent homes have been found for almost all of them.

If you can offer a temporary foster home to one or more of these cats,
please call Lana at 415/810-7284 or Johanna at 415-297-9301 right away.

Of course I know that most of the people getting this email cannot take
in more cats, but hopefully you have a friend/coworker/relative who
might be able to save a cat by giving it a temporary safe place to be
until GiveMeShelter can find it a "forever" home. As usual, please
forward this as widely as possible!!!!

Please do NOT email me, I'm just the messenger of this sad and urgent
news.

THANK YOU so much for anything you can do to help these deserving
animals!
