Re: Update on Okili and honerable mention of PACH presiden "Big Man"

First I'd also like to mention that tomorrow we will be on the air on KBBF with Amy contardi (89.1 FM) at 1:00 Pm. Please listen in!

Along those lines, I'd also like to ad a GREAT BIG Thank you to Elbert "Big Man" Howard of Jazz Styles on KBBF. He has also been promoting our event and speaking about Okili's situation, and the issue of Police abuse of power, in general period, and I'd failed to mention him below. "Big Man", in case you aren't aware, is one of the original co-founding members of the Black Panther party, of Oakland in 1966, and now resides in Sonoma county. He is also the president of PACH (Police Accountability Clinic and Helpline), which is an issue close to our hearts.

Initially, when we first had our FREE OKILI event, Big Man was plannig to read a speach that he' especially been moved to write based on an intuitive feeling he'd had awaking him in the middle of the night. Unfortunately, with all of our last minute, quick organizing (by incredible volunteers trying to do their best) his call to the stage was missed, although he'd attended the event. We've invited him to attend our upcoming welcome home party, and hope he can make it.

    BACKGROUND OF PACH
PACH grew out of an idea that was born in the wake of a spate of killings which occurred in Sonoma County at the hands of law enforcement officers. Most of these victims were young men of color and/or in mental crisis. Because the community’s needs/demands for satisfactory explanations and/or responses from law enforcement agencies and city officials were not addressed and/or were largely ignored, a group of concerned citizens and community activists got together and formed a coalition, which eventually held a community meeting, from which came the idea for PACH.
PACH, was formed to provide education and assistance to the community of Sonoma County by collecting, organizing, and cataloguing information about allegations of police abuse and misconduct.PACH is made up of a group of concerned volunteers, who collect information from people who feel that they have been mistreated by law enforcement officers, whether they are city police, sheriff’s deputies, CHP, or ICE agents (Immigration and Customs). Community members are encouraged to call the PACH phone line at 707-542-7224 (707-542-PACH) or they may also submit, in writing, their concerns, queries, or reports of incidents by mail to: PACH 719 Orchard Street, Santa Rosa, CA 95404
