Our community only stands a chance if we are able to gather available resouces and go full out to help save peoples homes and property, relocate them, create a sustainable community and so on.
This is what we have done so far here in Guerneville over the last 5 days as the Guerneville Sustainable Collective:
Gathered together 19 volunteer first response team including 2 licensed contractors.
Emailed the Red Cross to alert them that our homeless numbers due to forclosure and layoffs exceed Katrina numbers!
We have 2 people willing to spend approx. 300,000 towards land buy and also keep the person on their own land by creating an intentional community with the use of Yurts as a structure basis. All communities will have cottage industry, food crop, bio fuels crop to sell, ect. 3 People just donated 8 acres total toward this activity and someone will coop with us another 12 acres.
We have a good amount of information to help people understand forclosure given to us by a wonderful Real Estate Agent, who is also an activist and on our side!
We have 2 groups of fully functional intentional community who are ready to help set up additional communities for others on land that is donated or aquired that will be fully renewable energy run
We have the donated land for a community garden to start
We have income producing activities lined up to help create jobs from these spaces.
We are also helping local landowners replace buildings close to condemed with Yurt style living quarters and Renewable Energy
We are petitioning the County and The Rock to release currently abandoned or unused property so we may set up semi temp centers for families who are currently homeless due to forclosure and layoffs.
Many of us come from Americore, Red Cross, Eco Building Companies, Solar Companies, Bio Fuel Companies and other organizations. We are trained and ready to volunteer our time 24/7 and what little resources of our own to implement these steps.
We can overcome this and build a better community now! I would have written this a couple of months ago, but what was just a trickle of problem is now a landslide.
Some of us have already set up cottage industries here and hired people to work with us. We are currently working to do more.
We will continue to also educate people about Green Sustainable for free until everyone here can do it for themselves!
It ain't gonna be easy, but we will manage to have some really fun BBQ's and Healing Circle dances throughout.
Please let us know any Ideas you may have to help. VOLUNTEERS JOIN OUR COLLECTIVE, WE NEED YOU!
We currently need the following donations:
Coffee and Tea (Herbal) to keep us going
Bulk food stuff for Volunteer Group meals
Generators preferrably Diesel
Tents, Sleeping Bags
Tarps
Building Tools
Diesel Trucks
Flashlights and Batteries
Compost Toilets
Portable Toilets and bio degradable bags
Any small solar powered items
Pillows
Crafting Items and Hemp Twine
Any ideas you have to support Volunteers, Make Temp habitation for some, create more cottage Industry.
MORE LAND SPACE
In a couple of weeks we will be looking for eco building materials and supplies.
We are donating all our profits from our small businesses to this. I have done this before with another group of people and we ended up with 2300 acres for Employment based intentional communities (Solar and Bio Fuels) and a Sustainable village in Oregon. We can do this here too! It's all been done before, we just have to work together to keep doing it.
Breathe, Dream and Do!
