Garden-Based Education Grant-
Two grants of up to $5,000 each will be awarded for the 2009/2010
school year. This grant requires a match from the school or other
partner organization in cash or in-kind donation. Only schools with
existing garden programs may apply. Allowable expenses are: salary for
the Garden Education Coordinator, professional development for the
Coordinator and other garden team members, and curriculum materials.
The primary goal of the Garden-Based Education Grant is to address one
of the most significant obstacles school gardens face- securing
funding for a Garden Education Coordinator to develop and implement
the school garden program.
Application Deadline is March 31st, 2009.

Salad Bar Grant-
Schools may apply for up to $4,000. One grant will be awarded for the
2009-2010 school year. Applicants must have an established garden
program. The purpose of the Salad Bar Grant is to increase student
and staff access to healthy, fresh produce through a weekly school
salad bar, and to enhance the productivity of the school garden.
Application Deadline is April 3rd, 2009.

Cooking from the Garden Grant-
Schools may apply for up to $2,000. One grant will be awarded for the
2009-2010 school year. Applicants must have an established garden
program. The goal of the grant is to encourage nutrition education and
healthy cooking with children, using seasonal food grown in the school
garden and/or by local farms.
