hey this is a little unusual but here's our story:

5 days ago a norway rat came in throu the window and began nesting inside our kitchen refrigerator . the rats chewing the insulation,the cables and electrical wiring inside our kitchen refrigerator.

we've no success with traps,posions,sticky matts or anything esle

Having a cat in the room will very likely make the rat hole up for days or even until death. You don't want that.

Victor brand snap traps work well if you set them up correctly.

The rat needs to get out to get food and water. Rats and mice both travel along walls to get from place to place.

The way rats, who are very strong, get out of snap traps is by reaching in with a foot from the side to trip the mechanism and then they pull the foot out of the trap and eat the bait. I'm not sure why this doesn't break their little legs, but the can do it repeatedly.

To have the trap snap the neck of the rat (which ends the game) put two traps back to back with a couple inches in between them against the wall the rat will travel down when it leaves its nest. That means the rat meets the business end of the trap whether they're going out for the night or heading "home."

Put some bricks or a chunk of 4 by 4 wood alongside the traps and parallel to the wall. This forms a channel the rat needs to travel down and she must face the traps head on instead of from the side. The rat will step up on the trap and when it snaps it will come down on its neck and you win.

Use a generous quantity of peanut butter for bait. Dribble a little at the ends of the trap so the rat can have a taste "safely."

You may actually have more than one rat so put the trap back out after you catch the first one. Wash the trap first so the smell of the first rat is completely cleaned off. Use soap and a brush and lots of hot water.
