Nazis gave gays their very own symbol, sewn onto their prisoner uniforms to indicate that they were homosexual 'perverts' destined for execution. It was a pink triangle. Hence, the contemporary symbol today of gay pride. This was the gay equivalent of sewing the yellow star onto Jewish prisoners to indicate that they were Jews destined for execution.
Proposition 8 is a neo-Nazi amendment to the California State Constitution and this kind of gross discrimination to strip away people's rights and publicly humiliate good people is absolutely unacceptable, under any circumstances. Zero tolerance.
I'm ashamed to live in this period of history where this kind of public persecution still takes place. I'm ashamed to be an American, I'm ashamed of this country, and I'm ashamed to be living here. This is not a civilized society nor are Americans a civilized people.
