Death and Dying From a Buddhist Perspective

    Community Education Class

At Santa Rosa Junior College, class section number 9014, August 2 (Saturday), from 10 am to 4 pm. Fee: $54

1520 Emeritus Hall, Santa Rosa Campus.

Rather than fearing death, Buddhism regards the process of dying as an opportunity to realize the nature of mind and attain liberation. Lama Zik presents the meditative teachings of the Tibetan traditions of death and dying as a way to make the most of our death, and to live our life intelligently and fearlessly.

Victoria Whitehand is a lama of the Shagpa Kagyu Lineage of Tibetan Buddhism, and is resident lama at a meditation center in Sebastopol.

For the rest of us death remains a bummer.

These teachings can make it less of a "bummer" and provide us with some alternatives to living in fear of it.

Being dead ain't much of a drag. It's getting dead that could be a problem.
