I walked around the whole day, after watching this video the other day, saying to myself and anyone that would listen, just how amazing it was to watch this elephant paint. I am in awe of the elephants ability to express perspective... far better artist than myself. Calling it a self portrait and not a picture of one of the other elephants is strange as certainly she has seen more other elephants than she has seen reflections of herself.......Amazing...awe inspiring check it out. mindy

I had a feeling that it was something like this. It was so nice to believe the fantasy, but it did seem unreal.
UPDATE: I went to snopes and it is a little different angle - the elephants are trained to paint, but they do it and the proceeds are used for elephant conservation - I don't know.... take a look:

Sorry to keep doing this, but I keep changing my mind. You have to go visit this site about the organization that helps elephants and also teaches them to paint - there are a whole bunch of videos of different elephants painting and tons of samples of their work:

Their mission seems to be good and it appears the elephants are well treated.
