IN L.A.

It’s becoming harder
and harder
for me
to live
in such
a wasteful society.
Everywhere I go
today
here in L.A.
I see amidst the beauty
of the flowers and the trees
the lovely homes
and fancy cars
the awful scars of things made
to be used once
and thrown away
day after day
made far away
and thrown
here
there
and everywhere
or
if meant to be used
and used again
tossed aside
on someone’s whim
easier to get
rid of it
it seems to them
than use it again
or at the most
shoved
in a recycle bin.
