    What's Your Internet Connection?

Sonoma County, especially in the western part, is mixed density. Some folks have broadband, others still use dial-up, and yet others have to use other ways to get online. How do you do it?

    1) Broadband Connection

    2) Satellite

    3) Dial-up

    4) Public access - Wi-Fi, Library, Etc.

I use a commercial wireless connection. (Access Port) Kinda flakey, but it's faster than dial up. I'm hoping to get my antenna pointed more directly at the transmitter but I need the help of someone who can climb a big fat redwood.

Any tree climbers with safety equipment out there? I guess the antenna is about 50 feet up.

Still using dial-up. My only alternative would be Comcast which I refuse to support. Up where I live Cable TV rates for basic-plus have more than doubled since they took over and they're transfering more and more channels to digital. I don't watch enough TV to bother with digital, although I'd love to get Bravo and the Sci-fi channel again. I'm now looking into DirectTV in order to get rid of them. There might be too many trees...but I'm going to find out.

https://www.speedtest.net/ there are numorous test sights to test your speeds, I like this one for now, for it gave me the best results at 12 megs per sec. LOL! They vary allot, some only say I am traveling at 7 megs per sec.

WELCOME BACK FROM VACATION LOVELY LORRIE!!!!
    Thank you kindly My Kil!

I had a very very wonderful vacation and can you believe that it happened in Oklahoma and Missouri. (AR & KS too) I saw all kinds of things, museums and old houses from late 1800's.
Went to the Dewey Hotel and the Tom Mix museum...

Went to Frank Phillips' house (of Phillips 66 gas) And Will Rogers' house. As well as their museums. (And yes I did touch Will Rodgers' feet for good luck) These were both very big museums with lots and lots of rooms to see and read stuff.

I also went to Kansas... Independence KS, and saw Laura Wilde Ingels first house (Little house on the prarie) It is still on a prarie!

I saw where the Dalton Gang was going to rob those two banks that were across the street from each other. And the plaques in the spots on the ground where the good guys that were trying to stop them got shot down. I went down "Death Alley" where the Dalton gang was shot down in there tracks, right in front of the little jail (where you could put some coins in a thingy that tells the story of what happened)...
Although I could not find any Bullet holes in the banks, so I don't know what happened there.... I looked real hard. By the time we checked all this out the museum was closed at 4pm.
I left OK and went to Missouri, I met my cousin in Miami, which is pronounced Miama so you don't get it confused with the one in Florida....

I went to a bunch of cemeteries in Missouri, and a Home/Hospital of the General of a civil war, I think between indians and military... or north and south.... Don't quite remember....My cousin's husband Max took me. He grew up there...

I went on the Titanic... well half of it anyway, in Branson Missouri.
They had a tank of water that was as cold as the water the people fell into...and a timer... Well I set the timer and put my hand in. I only got to 15 seconds before I had to pull it out cause it was starting to hurt and going numb. I swear if I was one of those people I would have been dead in 30 seconds...in that water... brrrrr.

In Arkansas I went to Crescent City or Eureka Springs and went to visit the Cresent City Hotel. It is supposed to be the most haunted Hotel in America.... I felt a cold spot on the stairs around the third floor!!!!!!! oooooh!

The events are mixed up in the order I went, but it was so much in so little time I pull it as I remember and I probably have left something out.... hee hee.

My friend said there was much more that I missed... And go figure I didn't not know this until I visited her, but she was the ex-historical society president of Bartlesville OK so I got a personal/free tour guide. It was a blast. Oh I went to Woolarock too! Big Museum a place where Frank Phillips entertained other oil tycoons and movie stars i.e. Will Rogers and did reenactments with the indians for them.

I saw a humungous Bull with Gigantic Horns, a black Zebra, and a peacock and a Gizelle (sp) and a Biason (sp) up close even though all the signs said not to get out of your car...what a rebel.
I beat all Juan's friends and Juan at pool. Saw some bars, but only in OK, in Missouri it is more laid back and slow...But I got a T-Shirt from Dobbies, that is my friend KT & Juan's hang out.
I got lots to get caught up on for now being back. So I gotta go!
Thank you for the welcome home!
    ~Lorrie

P.S. OH the cemeteries were civil war graves most of the death date were 1898 they were historical that is why I went...
