    Re: Food co-op?

I have really been wanting to order from Azure Standard....they have a great selection. If we have enough people interested, I might be willing to do this..... They deliver here once a month.

Re: Food co-op? - Please join and help start one.

We are excited to let you know that an organic food, clothing, etc. coop is in the works to service Sonoma County and nearby areas.
While we work out the kinks, we'd love to put it out there that we need volunteers to help get this off the ground!
Basically, we will order from Azure which has a great variety of products, dedicated to Organics, and already comes to Petaluma to pick up food at Barbara's and to Santa Rosa to pick up at Amy's.
The next delivery is very soon so we'd like to recruit some "Beta" version customers to place an order before next Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2007. You can get a printed catalog with a sale catalog if you go to the azurestandard.com website. You can order online as well by first looking at azurestandard.com. Pick out what you want and transfer the information to an online coop order form at foodclub.org/scoc.
Please contact me at [email protected] and make payment arrangements.
You will have to pick up your order in the afternoon or evening of Monday, Oct. 15th. We'd call you and let you know when and where the truck will come.
We will waive the Coop fees for 6 months for the first people who help us get running smoothly.
Come and join this truly community oriented venture!
    Peggy

Is there a local food co-op?
If there is, how does one join? If not, would anyone be interested in starting one?
    Here are two sources:
    • Azure Standard
    • This company was the original source of products for the buying club so it has been with this project from the beginning. Azure Standard is a family-owned farm in Oregon that also distributes many fine bulk, natural, and organic foods and products. They also offer monthly sales.
    • To look at the wide selection of product that Azure Standard offers, you can view their catalogue online or request a copy by mail. www.azurestandard.com Phone: (541)467-2230

    • Frontier Natural Products Co-op
    • This co-operative offers only non-food items like health and beauty products (HABA), bulk spices, bulk teas, culinary accessories, etc. They offer some really great prices on items and also have monthly sales.
    • To view the products from Frontier, you can view their online catalogue or request that one be sent to you. www.frontiercoop.com Phone: (800)669-3275

    Hello everyone

This sounds great! I'd be willing to possibly volunteer....just need to know what is needed, where, how much time, etc. It would be worth it to get this going. I live in Penngrove but am willing to come to Sebastopol for this if it gets up and running. For right now, what should I do to order from Azure?

    Thanks. I'm excited about this....

Re: Food co-op - November Update

NOVEMBER order due in by Thur. Nov. 20th

To join, please sign into email group at WWW.groups.yahoo.com/group/SCOrganicCoop.com (Corrected URL)

Contact person: Peggy [email protected] 766-9750. Be sure to call if you order because we must know you are in our group.

Orders: First check out the website at www.azurestandard.com. Order a printed catalog directly to your home.

The prices are a little lower in the printed catalog than online. The first time you order, make sure you call them and set up an account. You are responsible to pay them directly. Once an account is set up, you can pay the driver of the truck by check when you pick up your food.

Three things they will ask for:

    Route No. is K1.
Our coop is under the name of Peggy Day.
The dropsite is 3746 Airway Dr., Santa Rosa, CA

Deadline: Nov.20 for orders. Minimum $50.
Pickup: Probably Tuesday Nov. 25 but possibly Monday, at Kohl's parking lot, 3746 Airway Dr., Santa Rosa, CA Drive in past Kohls to end of parking lot. [Time TBA*].

Sharing orders: Azure sells small quantities or cases with even lower prices. If you want to share an order with another family, please do so and plan to divide up the food on your own. You can contact other participants at the email group. Prices are low but can be quite a savings if you share your order.

Please contact us for any questions. Please be sure to give us your email and a phone number where we can contact you on the evening the truck arrives.

Consider using the co-op for special foods. E.g. Gluten, dairy free. Hard to find organics.

*The past three pickups have been in the morning on Tuesday around 7 am but it is impossible to know ahead of time when the truck will be here. We will call you an hour ahead of time to allow you time to meet it.

Re: Food co-op -Reply from Azure.

This is from Azure's General Manager. I've met several employees and they are as kind and caring as can be. They care about good food. -pd

    Dear Peggy,
Thank you for bringing this posting to our attention as this is an accusation that is as far from the truth as they can get. Azure is owned by the Stelzer family and we have been on the same farm and active in this community for five generations and have never had issues with race. I do know where this rumor came from however and have had to respond to it several times in the past although not really recently. Several years ago I ended up in a controversy with a woman and she told me that if I didn’t do what she wanted that she would destroy this business. I felt duty bound to hold my ground on the issue and felt that she was just threatening, but then within a few days Natural Food store owners, vendors, and anyone else prominent in this industry here in the Northwest received e-mails alleging that Azure was owned by white supremacists. This had no truth or facts in it but circulated around for a while and became a rumor in a few circles over time. I answered all of these that came to my attention but it is obviously still circulating as a rumor. Please be assured that Azure is in no way racist and we have the deepest respect for all races. We have several very valuable and respected employees that are not white and in fact the manger in the warehouse for order pulling is of Hispanic ancestry and a very good friend. I really appreciate anything you can do to give the light of truth on this issue to your readers and customers.
