free books among paper recycling garbage

In the recycling bins just east of and down the steps from the side entrance of the Sebastopol library are books, basically thrown away for recycling-saw "Life of Pi" and classics and a host of others-there is some other recycling stuff in there but if you PICK AT THE PILE CAREFULLY-should avoid other paper garbage...seems like a shame to throw 'em out..... (not sure what day they pick up recycling-Monday morning?)

Is there any law about going through recycling stuff on other property??????

Re: free books among paper recycling garbage

Courts have said that any 'set-outs'; i.e. garbage, recycling and yard waste, are the property of the disposal/recycling/composting companies who pick it up. Also, most people would object to having others look through their 'trash'; a matter of privacy.
